if i was doing the recruiting ...we would have been playing selwood and riolli.....don't know if it would have made the difference......but we will never know.... sure would have. I'd also be chasing the best AFL recruiter before I looked at the coach position. You need the best players .. we still...

We changed so many coaches over the years the message should be clear - the coach has little to do with it. our players have consistently fallen short because of other reasons - injuries, lack of skills, lack of toughness, lack of consistency. We need another 2 tough, reliable quality midfielders. A...

Put the Cats amongst the pigeons.

Fly in some pigeons and make sure they were fed a laxative extract first.

"tackling someone after they manage to pass the ball to a team mate " Pretty sure that wouldn't be counted as a tackle, more likely a free kick. [/quote] I didnt express my thoughts well. Let me rephrase that to ..tackling someone who still manages to get an effective pass to a teammate. ...

No forward pressure? Koschitzke ranks 5th in tackles for the club. Milne 6th. While 3 of our top 4 tacklers often rest up forward. statistics dont tell the real story. The number of tackles isnt a direct measure of forward pressure. there's a big difference between tackling someone after they manag...

Spot on.

A major flaw in our game.

When we occassionally mark the ball in our forward 50, we mainly kick points from very gettable shots and when we dont mark the ball it gets shot back out under no pressure.

our midfield would be very frustrated.

We seem to get the ball into our 50 often enough but then it gets shot out more often than not... So I think .. We need quick 2 medium sized goal kicking forwards (not smalls) - to - 1. kick goals and 2. chase down and pressure - to stop the rebounds that are killing us. We dont have anyone capable ...

i think coaches are overrated. It's convenient and neat to package all our problems and assign them to the coach... but arent we denying the real issue that way? I think we idealise our players too much and think they're better than they are. - we dont have enough runners or goalkickers and some of ...

Our Strength is also our weakness

We have tall marking forwards - that's our strength. Kosi and Riewoldt can take a lot of marks or at least contest marks inside 50. But they dont kick enough goals - we can only rely on 1-2 goals from each. So a lot of effort is put into delivering the ball to them - for little return. And when the ...

Before adulating and crediting Alan Jeans for our golden era and how much influence he had , what I'd like to know is .. - was it a quirk of history, our recruiting or the favourable zoning that provided us the wealth of player talent in the 60's and 70's.. Those players would have succeeded under a...

Pureoctain - your team looks good. but what happens on the injury front will determine how we finish in 2008 - the 95%. the rest (including the coach) amounts to 5%. As Lyon said (during the season, following Riewoldts return from injury) he's a better coach with Riewoldt in the team and he will be ...

pace is not over rated - it's an ingredient that we need more of - for team balance. All else being equal - pace is a major consideration - and what St Kilda needs more of. consider this 1. when the ball is in open spaces - and the MCG has plenty of open spaces - we get beaten to the ball more often...

Closed especially on hot sunny days. Most of the public seated in the lower deck around the wing position(where I was seated) had their faces roasted last Saturday and a lot moved out of their nice seats to stand upstairs under cover. I hope some of the administators who decide on this issue got som...
