Stability is the key. If you're winning, you don't make wholesale changes just for the sake of it. Let them earn their spot back in the team, coz it means competition and more hunger to get picked, and then retained. The line was drawn with Dal and 44. Thought Birss would be well suited with this we...

Plugger, Yes, it was... and he did great. Let him back it up. This week's is just as defining. I hope he kill's em TBH. There was a big hoo-ha when he was dropped, and he responded the best way possible. Now let's see if he can prodcue that on a regular basis. Same can be said for most of our team.

Interseting article in Hun predicting that the draft will be of similar talent to 2001. So in this case, with so many options up to pick 20, why would you tank? BTW, Iwasn't referring to tanking. Just pondering. Making the 8 would restore a ton of belief and confidence. I believe that we had to turn...

My question mark over 44 is in big games. Am yet to be convinced.

Agree that Schneider hasn't performed. Fitness would be an issue, and like any structure, all players need time to understand what their team mates are likey to do.

A "coaches boy". Perhaps the coach believes he has a role to player within the team structure?

Need time to settle in, one would think.

As for being a "poor man's Milne"... 44 would want to stand up and back up his last game with another good perfomance.

Agree, it looks so simple that you wonder why they don't do that with G. If you leave him 1 out and we rebound... the opposition will quickly drop someone back on him. Which should then free up one of our guys to go forward. As for dropping numbers back... even if G was to stay in the square, surely...

Amen. Am never ashamed. Sometimes embrarrased by what goes on.

Takes courage and character to stick phat with a club for a long time.

Now, careful Rodger, I might actually agree with you

Tend to agree with all of the above.

If the great man has the belief, then that's good enough for me.

Should put to rest any discussion that players aren't trying.

Have often thought about this, and probably wouldn't suprise me if our forward line can't kick enough goals.

If he's fit and shows some form at Casey, who knows?

Still, can't see it happening :(

In my football mad youth, I watched the saints on Saturday, then Prahran on Sundays. Was never the same. I doubt the VFL will ever recapture that nostalgia. Supporters tastes have changed dramatically. That's why we all sit at the footy now. It's just the way it is. Interesting though... in the USA,...

Amen. That's why I'm optomistic about Gwilt. Wait and see how big he comes back next year should we keep him. Problem though was that we had to play them in 03 coz of injuries. so they were exposed sooner rather than later. Also agree 100% about expectations. Seems like everyone is expected to play ...

Sorry... and that's why the AFL and clubs tend to cater to these supporters. The proof is trying to go to the GF. It's all about selling "packages" etc. Whilst the die-hard supporter can only watch it on TV. Apart from the result, the one thing that really stood out in 97 was the lack of r...

AFL doesn't give a toss coz it's all about media $$$. I think where it's broken is that the demographics have changed, and there is no longer that suburban rivalry. How many Saints members live in St Kilda. Same for Hawks, Pies, and Doggies? Or North? So what you probably see now is a different type...

It's probably not so much about the draft picks. More about playing the kids to see who'll cut it. I guess we've historically seen more down than up, and I shudder to think what would happen if we missed out again. We're not exactly averse to implosions of sorts. IMHO we do not need to tank to get b...
