Re: Lucas Cook
We don't have many spots on the list and forwards are probably one area we don't need to draft in. His highlight reel shows him across half back as well as forward - you would only look at him if there was a chance he could fill the key back spot that needs filling Half back would probably be the o...

One has shown that he can play at an AA level for a full two years, the other hasn't.borderbarry wrote:I rate Gilbert and Clarke on a par. Both have run and carry, both make blues.

Re: Draft strategy
I'd rather lead Ferguson and the rookies on the rookie list if they still can be kept on it rather than using a spot up on the senior list. I'm sure if they are tearing it up in the VFL next year we will probably have a LTI and be able to upgrade them.

Ray? Surely if he was going they would have traded him to the Dees. Not to mention he has a contract.stinger wrote:if blake's staying...a couple of others are for the chop.....raph and who else...ledger, winmar, webster or ray.....
Ledger also has surely shown enough to stay on the list.

Re: Logical Like for Like
It seems like the list Mgers (Pelchen and Bainsey) are taking a very ordered and predictable approach. Like-for-like replacement based on age. Think of it like replacing the oldest parts of your car first. Lets just go down the list of players from age down Len-Dog - Seb Ross ? Milney - Saad/TDL Ko...

Pretty sure we will only use the 4 picks (25,25,41,44).evertonfc wrote:Very bizarre to give up pick 47 for a guy we could have surely landed for about pick 87.
Not a bad player, plenty of talent, but we're just overloaded with small forwards now.
Not sure why the deal was done IMO.

OUT:
Peake
Polo
Crocker
Goddard
Cripps
IN:
Lee
Hickey
TDL
2 spots available with Blake and Clarke still not offered a contract, so I'd assume both will be delisted so that we can use 25,26,41,44 in the draft. Possibly one more delisting to upgrade Dunell or Curren.

Re: So Still No Key Defender
There are a few good key defenders in the draft around the 15-30 mark like Tanner Smith, so hopefully we can grab one of them. Also would have to pick up a mature ager such as Joel Tippett to at least have someone to fill in there next year.

Andrew Lowther: Raph Clarke ... Saints will speak to him next wk. Is in limbo. Is he in limbo because no one wants him? not even us? No interest in him from other clubs and the Saints will only decide whether to re-contract him after the trade period is finished. If they think they need an extra pi...

Ledger got hyped to such an extreme on this site, that it went the other way and people starting calling him a dud because he wasn't living up to the hype.
He still has some things to work on, but I think he has a bright future... hopefully at the Saints.

He is an interesting one. Rated very highly as a junior, but has been very poor at AFL level and although he has been cleared medically, you would still have to have a slight worry about his heart.

Big Mac is a lot better than you give him credit for. His ruckwork is a weakness, but he is strong in most other areas. Hickey still has a lot to prove.WinnersOnly wrote:Hickley will quickly go past McEvoy as our No 1 ruckman IMO. Big Mc will need to lift considerably to hold his position IMO.

Morton's fate could hinge on West Coast's bid to poach homesick St Kilda defender Jamie Cripps. West Coast wants Cripps, but is unwilling to part with key defender Mitch Brown in a trade for the young flanker. Speculation was mounting last night that Essendon could be involved as part of a three-wa...

surely its not as easy as walking into the draft and being picked up by the only team in the competition you seem willing to play for ?? Most teams don't risk picking up a player who has said he doesn't want to play for your club especially if they aren't a brilliant prospect. I can appreciate this...

Unlikely they will lose their draft picks, they will probably just receive a fine if anything. They haven't done anything terribly wrong.

Best we could hope for (assuming WCE don't change their mind on Brown) would be 41 and 44. However, it seems we will probably only be offered one of them.

Sainterss sounds like he has some inside goss. Any other goss you can share ?
