Re: Academy - Kindergarten

I remember when I was teaching in England, they closed down poorly performing schools....gave them a coat of paint and some new computers and re-opened them as academies.... hoping to change attitudes.. didnt really work..... whilst the name and facilities were different, the kids were the same... ...

I note that of Greg's 17 games, only three were wins. In two of those wins, Michael Nettlefold played, but only once on the winning side. Grant Thomas played in the first two wins before he was badly injured in Round 10 of 1983 and was never the same player again, in fact, never played for the Sain...

Not sure how it would go with team harmony.

The King is now 'dating' a girl who is an ex of a current player.

While on field in 2011 he had a teriffic year, it is my understanding he is struggling a little with the breakup.

Not a lot of transition time IMO. The initial change under Ro$$ Lyin was massive, bringing that ultra defensive approach in was revolutionary to our players. I think "tweaking" rather than complete overhaul will be the order of the day, some different personnel in some spots etc, and I do...

The best one we have had in recent memory was Terry Daniher. He did have Hamill, Gehrig & a fit Roo to work with though! When Thomas moved him to backline coach for the next season the forward line went to shite. Reckon Tudor was good also. Tudor was coming off a low base with the previous bein...

I'm surprised to read that Kingy is only 32, seems to have been around forever.
Must have been made the Geelong skipper quite young.

Didn't say much else - said he couldn't divulge his source - just wanted to get 'on the record' that you 'heard it here first' so who knows, really...

Dont people read or listen. We have no money in our salary cap. Apparently not Plugg, but what on earth was RL on when he spoke of Mitch Clark? If the Saints are serious about bringing in a ruckman they'd have earmarked some cash to get the deal done. RL may have gone but the need for another ruckm...

This from ever reliable Bigfooty: Raphael Clarke to North for Cruize Garlett who is cruize garlett? why would they want raph? cruize is small (174cm) & quick Have you seen North's defence? They could do with Raph, he would make them a good team. They don't rebound from defence unless their mids...

Salary Cap Squeeze?

Interesting that in Caro's article today it mentions potentially trading away a player to reduce financial / salary cap pressures. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/saints-at-a-loss-20110920-1kjlg.html RL mentions in the article in the WA paper that he spoke to (?) Mitch Clarke about a possible ...

I agree - the Pelchen factor was significant and would have upset his "top dog" mentality. But from the Board/Mgt perspective - our lack of players under 25 would have been ringing alarm bells. They could see RL was not planning for the future so they had to do something to remedy that. t...

Re: Get off your high horse!

I think it is simplist to say he didn't develop the youth - if he had played them most likely we wouldn't have challenged for a flag. You can't have your cake and eat it. Sure Lyon gets a pass mark for getting us into the GF's, but don't tell me that the team wouldn't have naturally improved and le...

Why? Why? Because he was the heart and soul of the club and Lyon dissing him coulda cost us 2 premierships - the one he didn't play and the one he coached Collingwood defence to win. Wonder what Max thinks of Presti putting his hand up and saying he wasn't right to play? So you're assuming that Max...
