Re: So what is the club structure exactly?

From the information I've gleaned from here and around the web, we seem to have now adopted a management structure more in line with many other successful clubs around Australia and the world. As stated, Geelong amongst others in the AFL run on this model as do the likes of Man Utd. and Barcelona. F...

I don't understand why people were concerned about Curren anyway, as I'm pretty sure he signed a two year contract back in September didn't he?

OMG with him and Basil coming on board, there is a "Mass Insodus" at the Saints. Caro just wrote an article stating "Two Dominoes stood back up today at the Saints" lol - this is all to funny. Every time a Caro or some other journo wants to stir s.hit about the Saints, the admin...

I was there too. I'm pretty sure the crowd was 80,000 that day wasn't it? Great atmosphere!

Re: Watters' position is now untenable

The moment the players organised dwarfs at Mad Monday Watters position was untenable. For those smart enough to realize who the dwarfs were representative of shows how the coach is viewed by the playing group. We need to bite the bullet now and change things before 2014 becomes a waste of time. Giv...

Obviously not of the last decade, but Burnsy and Joffa Cunningham were two of the hardest men ever to pull on the Saints guernsey IMO....and we've had plenty of them.

Re: Git 'er done: Taylor Adams - GWS

You'd think Dawes and Clarke being around the club (not only on field) would help Watts. I actually think Watts is damaged goods and not worth the punt. A club will pick him up though just not confident he works out. not even close ... lets be honest here Neitz was a leader and would have helped Ja...

Re: Filth adds to indigeneous Round

. Very good point. We have to be careful of going too much over the top on the girl. It is a disgusting thing she said of course, but lets not push a foolish young girl to the point where she may become suicidal. i agree to a degree but i feel she needs a book slammed into her so she really learns ...

Re: Filth adds to indigeneous Round

Yep, well handled by Maguire. If the girl in question is a young teenager, then it needs to be handled carefully. Facebook, twitter etc...she could end up being very battered. Needs to be educated, not bashed. Thought Maguire was genuine about it and spoke well. Very good point. We have to be caref...

Re: Nicky back at Saints this morning

My favourite Sainter ever- I still blame Robert Walls who harassed the Saints and went on about our culture in a poorly disguised racial slur until we bent over. At least number 7 has remained quality. My favourite Sainter too - I have so many memories of the amazing things he did in our not-so-glo...

Re: Share your bizarre/offbeat Saints moments.

The most bizarre day for me was the day we played the Doggies at Waverley just after Trevor Barker died. They released his pigeons just before the game started as a tribute - it was quite a moving experience. Later that same afternoon during the third quarter, news started coming through on the radi...

Re: Tony Micale - Head Of Player Academy

I heard that they wanted to have him as director of the academy last year, but he was unable to do so due to family issues - looks like they may have been keeping the position open for him. Seems to be very highly regarded in footy circles and as others have said, he's got a great track record of de...

When all's said and done, BJ wanted x amount and we could only afford y amount. With this being a new process, it's understandable the club don't know exactly where they stand until 19th October. Can only wonder what Roo thinks of all this when he gets back from the US...considering his paycut and ...

we lost plugger, but with picked up aussie jones, joel smith, and tony brown, who turned out to be just the tonic we needed at the time. BUT, can u imagine we had lockett at full-forward, instead of Heatley, in the '97 GF??? I think Heatley was a major factor in us making the GF that season. The be...

I'm sure Pelchen, Elshaug and Watters have already earmarked exactly the guys they want to recruit, and I'm pretty confident they'll make the right decisions to grow our list.

The next few years are going to very interesting, but I don't think we're in for quite as much pain as some people expect...

Re: Very pleased with the fight back

Being realistic, I'd suggest we would take more out of that game than Adelaide would, considering where both teams are at at the moment. Carrying a few rusty players tonight who will be much better for the run too. Adelaide on the other hand, nowhere near premiership material - Tippett and Walker bo...

Re: Saints v Richmond - Friday Night Footy - preview

Has there ever been a Bigger StKilda vs Richmond game???? I can't think of one Anzac Day in the 90's at Waverley with 75K I remember that game too - Richmond jumped us early, before we reeled them in and won comfortably in the end - it was an unexpectedly large crowd - a bit like the Queen's birthd...

I must say I've been impressed with Simpkin - not overwhelmed, but I reckon he seems to be making steady progress each week and is learning the small things soundly, like running the angles and timing a spoil. One spoil in particular (in the second quarter I think) looked so much like what Maxy woul...

Re: Hawks Round 6

I know some of you think there's no obvious match up for Franklin, but I would have thought Dempster would be the logical choice with his height and athleticism + he has a bigger motor. Looking at this season's stats, Franklin seems to be a bit of a barometer for the Hawks - when he doesn't fire the...

That mark of Winmar against the Bombers at Moorabbin in 1987 is still the most amazing mark I have ever seen live at the football. The lack of footage is s tradgedy. Not many cameras at our games back in the 80's unfortunately. This. That mark was taken right in front of us - it was the most incred...

I feel it will be a sad to year to behold. Riewoldt will really be a "beyond it" player this year. Just a little too old and the body too ruined from years of great service. Kosi will continue to never reach his ultimate potential. Dal Santo will still be good but older and slower. Montag...
