keep the blood line of 'soft' collingwood players to continuing for them after lockyer, thomas and co.

they did the same with tommy last year. although i think that was due to him having to play for his county in finals.
imo, gives him time to go back home and play with the sherrin for 12 months to improve ball skills, and to make sure he's 100% committed before we sign him on.

imo, the pattison pick up means ross thinks kosi is best left forward and blake best left in the backline. gardi/king/mcevoy take the main rucking duties. kings on his last legs (or shoulders) and if one goes down we have the reserve ruck there and we dont have to mess with our forward/back structur...
