Re: Good Friday Footy in 2015!
You don't have to be a devout Christian to go to church on Good Friday. You don't have to be Christian to appreciate having one day which is free of the endless verbal diarrhoea coming from such 'experts' as Hutchie. I didn't say you can't watch the game if it's on that day. You can have all the fo...

Re: Good Friday Footy in 2015!
Good Friday services for most Christian denominations start at 3.00. Not personally a huge fan of the Royal Children's telethon, but if it stops Good Friday footy I'm all for it! Seems selfish to me to be so hell bent on not having any football matches on a certain day because it doesn't fit in wit...

Re: Good Friday Footy in 2015!
No, let's not 'trial' it. We know what 'trial' means.
The only way the AFL would stop it is if it's a financial failure.... And even then, I doubt it. They would just pour more money into it until they were proved 'right'.

Re: Good Friday Footy in 2015!
Please don't have footy on Good Friday. If it DOES eventuate and the Saints are playing, I won't be going. And I know plenty of other Saints supporters who wouldn't go. Anyway it'd be like one of those dreadful NRL games played in a 1/4-filled stadium which you see late at night on the telly on Good...

Yes, can live with that. I think we'll beat Essendon even if we drop one or both of the first two 'easy' rounds.

Re: 1968 - missed opportunity for Saints
I don't really think it would be 'fun to watch'. From memory the little piss-ant of an umpire made a ridiculous decision then kept giving 50m to the G-train for back-chatting.

Re: 1968 - missed opportunity for Saints
Absolutely right, EM! The 'Sirengate' match was I think the first and only time that the match was over BEFORE the umpire raised both arms (contrary to all the rules of our game!). The result of the game was changed days AFTER the game itself. Totally corrupt AFL needing to get Freo 'up'. Why don't ...

Re: A question I would like to ask......
Let's see after the first two rounds.
There will be a HUGE build up to round one, with the Dear Leader himself Paul Roos coaching the DEES.
Depending on how this goes, we could start with two wins (GWS in round two).
After that, just go for it! Could be a let-down, but who cares?

Re: 1968 - missed opportunity for Saints
Yes, I wasn't around for that '68 final against the Cats but apparently 'The Doc' just walked off at the end of the game. No fanfare.... A sad end to a great career. Wasn't there in '72 either but Saints should have won that Prelim. Was there at Footy Park in 2004 for the Prelim. A goal down, Peckit...

Re: Rich club, poor club
How do you know he's a Collingwood supporter? Dunno. How do I know the sky is blue? It's just a fact. Going into the 2000 season, after a moderately successful 1999 ( after a mid-season slump, we beat WC in Perth in the last round!) , coached by an ex-Essendon player, we were trying to emulate the ...

Re: Rich club, poor club
No doubt the article by Jake "Hawthorn" Niall is a great read for smug Hawks supporters (is there any other kind?) Niall is a Collingwood supporter. BTW the first club to to move to Docklands (Essendon) had an almost undefeated season its first year there and won the flag. What does that ...

Re: Rich club, poor club
No doubt the article by Jake "Hawthorn" Niall is a great read for smug Hawks supporters (is there any other kind?) All clubs make decisions; not all are correct in the long run. When the Saints admin spent a lot of money building that stand at Moorabbin they thought they were doing the rig...

Rohan Connolly
I see Rohan 'Essendon' Connolly has had (yet another) go at the Saints' 'culture' in the Sunday Age. http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/saints-be-dazed--again-20131102-2wtos.html?skin=text-only He says any mention of the club's culture 'makes a Saints supporter groan with exasperation.' No, buddy...

Re: Time that some people took a good look at themselves
As Dermott Brereton (not usually a fount of wisdom but in this case he is) said on the matter..... There will always be people at every club who have some gripe.... Whether it's players who aren't getting a game anymore or others on the staff who feel they're losing influence. These are the people w...
