Re: Training

They should all be on the up and full of confidence. The real test will be how we perform in the first quarter. :!:

Re: Team v Nth

I am also a bit worried about their three talls up-forward - Brown, Waite, Petrie. I thought that Delaney could get a run.
I understand why he was dropped against the Bulldogs, with their smaller/faster forward set-up.

Re: For those who don't want us to make the finals this year

'
Finals (any) have a nice footy feel. The way that we are currently playing would be a great "taste" for the boys.

Re: "We'll go out next week against the Ross and give them h

Saturday night was our best four quarters for the year.

The boys are on the up and brimming with enthusiasm, confidence and will-to-win. Anything is now possible this week. We may need a bigger body on the backline against North's marking forwards - Delaney ?

Re: Kicking at goal...

Fundamentally, it's a skill. With video equipment, kicking coaches and available time to practice, you would think that our kicking would far better. However, in games, the mental factor/confidence level has a great influence on the kick. It's something that our coaching staff need to work much hard...

Re: Next Week

The ups & downs will continue until we get a couple more premium players into the side - particularly Mids. This years Draft/Trading will be vital to where we get to next year. Not sure why we don't perform well interstate, but perhaps the effort required to perform at our very best each week to...

Re: The Danger zone

I don't think that we afford "not to" tag Dangerfield. He is by far their top playmaker.

Selwood would be worth a tight tag at the centre bounces as well. Centre clearances are our weakest area (forget the Carlton game) and we need to be at the top of our pressure game in there.

Re: A Pat On The Back

it was a big step-up for him this week and he would have been very nervous - backline mistakes are very costly and dramatic. Delaney is a back-up and did reasonably well under not so difficult attack. He seemed to me to lack confidence and defended, rather than attacked the contest, but he will impr...

Good question. I'll leave that up to the selectors. It's good to have players having to compete for a spot in the team.

I like his toughness. In a young team, with a lot of players yet to build strong bodies, he adds a lot of grunt. Love his attack on the ball.

Re: Lewis Pierce debut

Was OK for his first game and did a couple of nice things. His ability to give Hickey a chop-out is a big plus for the team.

Should get another gig against Geelong.

It was a perfect day for the roof to be open - no rain, a fair amount of cloud, not hot or too cold.

Re: Jade Gresham

I am not yet sure about Gresham. I have not watched him closely, but from what I have seen in parts, he lacks accountability, pace and stamina. On the small size too. He makes up for things with his attack on the ball. His reputed kicking skills have not been there to date. Like a lot of others, tim...

Final Team - Murdoch for Webster. Just a lucky guess ?

Hickey still not a 100% certainty.

Roberton - another chance to show what he is capable of.

Team against Freo :

Out - Hickey (rest - Crows in Adelaide next week) , for Pierce.
Out - Roberton - (not the full Robo last week), for Lee.
Out - Webster - (average only), for Murdoch.

Re: Fremantle Round 10

It will not be an easy match, but after yesterday's confidence booster, we should roll them. The "big three" on the forward line took a major step yesterday and as a mini-team, they should gel even better. It's nice going to the footy with very positive expectations for a win - not just ho...

Re: Team v Bombers

With paddy coming in, I was pleased to see that they did not drop Membrey. We will have a very strong forward line this week - reminds me of West Coast, last week ! I haven't seen Daniel McKenzie for a long time, so it will be good see how he goes. Strange to see Holmes nominated ahead of Pierce, wh...

Re: Deliberate rule needs investigation

The words "common sense" would alleviate most idiotic calls by umpires. I think that they are so focused on "umpiring" player mistakes, that they react on impulse. As Magnificent said, the rule is fine.

Re: Hickey

Has been playing great football to date, but he got monstered in the ruck duels yesterday, which is the key to his game. I wonder what the lessons from the tapes will be ?? Agree that he can't ruck all day against the top ruckmen. We were clearly too short yesterday down back, so why Pierce was not ...

Re: Where is our midfield at?

Generally, good comments Bluthy. You are not far off the mark. What we have is a bunch of "average" footballers in the middle. No elite kicks, which we supporters have been complaining about for "years" now. A couple of Petracca's would be nice, but it didn't fall our way (I am h...

Re: A lot to like about Gresham

A great effort today by Gresham, but very poor kicking skills were a big let=down. To be a good player, today's footy requires top kicking skills, as turnovers cost the team dearly. Our Recruiters have crucified the Club in selecting players with poor kicking skills, for many years now. When will th...

Re: Terrible decisions at the selection table this week

Right from selection, the pundits were calling it - we were too small in our defence. Why is it that the Saints selectors could not see the same situation. Lee, Goddard, Delaney would have added a lot of size to compete with the Eagles flyers. None of these guys were selected. Dempster, Gilbert and ...

Re: Timmy!!!

With Paddy & Josh in place, Tim is a mid-sized guy who has body strength, can take a mark, is quite agile and importantly, can kick a goal! He is a difficult match-up and gives us a little more grunt than the other smaller forwards. Did you notice the general weight/muscle advantage that North a...

Re: Team v Roos

Understandable that Lee would be disappointed. He has done well in his two games. Goddard has the height, but not sure that his current form is great, although I nominated him earlier in the week. We need additional height on the backline this week and it looks like Goddard. Let's hope that he plays...
