We need to focus on "us" at the moment. Brisbane was not good football, but "we won," which is important. The next three matches will tell where we are at - Adelaide (played well on Sat. night), Carlton and Hawthorn. Time to re-assess after Hawthorn - we must win at least two of ...

It's interesting to see how well Geelong are going - if they can play well, why can't we :?:

The next three matches will show us where things are at - Adelaide, Carlton & Hawthorn. We will then be able to make some decisions about how we tackle the rest of the year.

Here's a "real time" one to contemplate - Luke Ball for Wellingham :!:

Not sure of the "behind the scenes goings on," but to let Ball go for nothing was a no brainer for me. With Lenny now out, it shows how the "recruiters" stuffed things up yet again.

I think that you may be close to the mark realdeal.

Johnson's bio states that he is a backman, but he seems to be able to make the forward transition.

because we have a settled backline, perhaps they give Lynch more time on the forward line at Sandy, to see what he can do. :?:

On the money again saintbrat - 12.15 interview from Frankston (does he ever take a break). :!: Ross agrees that the 3 tall forwards approach may need reviewing. "Hints" that Will Johnson will be a definite consideration this week. General chat. Nothing said about Adelaide's good performanc...

I am not sure that we play them all at once, but a Stanley/Johnson swap certainly won't do us any harm in the near future. 8-)

Thanks for tip-offs as usual saintbrat, plus the pointers - which make it exceedingly easy to keep in touch with what's happening. It was interesting to hear the MMM boys comment about the lack of "congtata" to Jason Gram on kicking that great goal early in the third quarter. I thought it ...

It's also been at the back of my mind BB, but it's very hard to make a call looking in from the outside.

Poor "recruiting" may be catching up, which the current coaches have to wear.

Suffice to say that all is not well with the team at the moment.

Extra Rest Days an Advantage for Next week?

Adelaide play Carlton at Etihad on Saturday at 7.00 pm.

Also, Saints coaching staff will be at Etihad for a look.

How much advantage to us?

Good point bigcarl, but Ray seems more of a running player to me, than a "set position/lead-up" type, where he has confined space. 8-)

Re Dempster - as posted pre-game on on Wednesday, "Dempster is probably playing a specific role each week and the Match Committee are obviously happy with what he is delivering." The Saints supporters mark him hard at times. He came to us with a reputation as a good kick, but all I hear i...

Has always been a great mark for his size and courageous too.

We need his run around the ground, more than what he can do up forward. It's a bit like using Goddard to fill all of our gaps - we have too many to fill.

Zac's been very solid in a backline that has been under enormous pressure recently. Many would wilt and panic.

We have bigger problems up forward to be concerned about. Thank goodness for a good game from Schneider last night - must have practiced his goal kicking during the week :!:

Watch and if they don't get over $1,000 and it doesn't sell, then a call to the Club would still be worthwhile next week.

For what it's worth :

Montagna - hi possessions all night (much goal kicking practice this week).
Fisher - strong all night. Good re-bounding.
Schneider - 3 goals made the difference.
Goddard - great to see his high possession game last night.
Ray - competed well all night. Great last quarter.

Agree. Gilbert was trying to make something happen, with limited options available. Was a fairly innocuos event in the run of things.

The 50 penalty episode was a sign of frustration. He needs to relax a little more and is obviously very concious about his current form. - trying too hard perhaps :?:

Next week will be a step up in intensity. Let's see if we can lift from here to a higher level. Confidence means a lot, but still a couple of tweaks are needed up forward
