As of now all the other clubs are on holiday for 8 weeks, when the new coach is appointed he'll hit the ground running with plenty of time to prepare the team for next season.

I applaud this decision, it's about time though as the weaker clubs have been effectively subsidising the buyout of Etihad stadium in 2025 by the AFL.
