I don't care where he plays as long as it is not first ruck unless he suddenly develops a leap and can get his hand to the ball. We can not wait until he is 28-29 to improve. If Hickey or whoever overtakes him in ruck where would you play him?

Stats were not wrong in the 2010 GF when Jolly spanked us in the ruck and pushed forward and kicked goals. Hickey seems to be beating Macca at training according to other boards. So he is going to jump higher this season. I don't think so, just don't get the love for this guy, if he won more in the ruck the backline would not be under so much pressure. More of an issue than full back and if he is first ruck this season then it is going to be a bleak year.

If we had a big FB his work around the ground would be superfluous. So what you are saying is he is ordinary in the ruck but he can play the loose defender well.

I thought a ruckmans reason for existence was to be able to be efficient at the ball ups and push forward as needed.

At least Rhys wins his share of the ruck duels, Ben is just a witch's hat at the ball ups. This years new ruck rules will make this even more obvious to those with blind faith. Now that first statement about Ben just isnt true which makes it a lie IMO and the new rules will make bugger all differen...

I think plugger66 and Curly must be related to Macca by their glowing endorsements. I can not see us improving with him playing first ruck. The club would not have recruited two more rucks if they had any faith in him. Gardi or King would have spanked him easily in their prime. Backline or Sandringh...

In those games against Essendon we were thrashed in the ruck as well. They had first use of the ball most of the time. Hopefully that problem has been addressed now.

Ruck has been an issue as well. I'm not sold on mc evoy being a dominate ruck in years to come, and I'm glad we picked up hickey. It would not surprise me if mcevoy becomes second ruck by years end.
