Re: We are beginning to look stupid
None of the real stars in Fyfe,Kelly & Martin moved so all clubs must be stupid? A few B graders have signalled a move, most of which should not be a real priority for us. Lever would be nice, but we have Roberton, Gilbert & Carlisle as intercept marks. Devon Smith, perhaps, but crook knees ...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I would still think using 7 & 8 at the draft is the fall back option (and still a very good one to have). Could still trade up higher in the draft, or use the picks once the merry go round of player movements starts to happen next week.
Going to be interesting, a lot of options open.

Good to see that Ameet has followed Jaxons and said he is quite comfortable in taking 7 & 8 to the draft

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I'd rather have a diehard supporter like WW/GPHB on this forum than a Jaxons-type any day of the week. Couldn't care less if Jaxons pulls the pin because not everyone is willing to ride his nuts. A diehard supporter who regularly, and often aggressively and illogically bagged his team??? No thanks....

Re: Saints inactive this FA and trade period?!
I think we will be quite active, not hearing too much at this stage may be good, not public like Norf. if not, happy to go to the draft. Would have loved Kelly, but now I don't know about a big fish, they cost a lot and that has ramifications for the future. May be better getting a couple of B or B+...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I look forward to any posts by Jaxons because I know there is some basis to his statements and it always sets the thread going - also BF posters keep an eye on Jaxons's posts. He is the most reliable ITK around, and not even Ameet Bains posting on here at this stage would predict everything that wil...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Longer's better and more effective hitouts enable the mids to gain more metres - which means quicker ball movement, much better than a slow ruckman looping a kick forward. Not shown in stats Billy is also more aggressive at the contest, clearing a path for the mids. Not shown in stats. Where do the ...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I guess we agree to disagree. Longer far better at the actual ruck contests than Hickey. Anyway, I hope a fit Hickey will not be as good as you say, as there is a fair chance it will be at another club next year.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Very judgemental on one game - a game where we were exposed for pace and precision Further, Hickey was coming off missing matches with injury then not playing the preceding VFL match to ensure his availability for the Essendon match, so hardly the ideal preparation Perhaps you should focus on Longe...

Re: Barry Hall strikes again x 2
Yes, ex AFL players have problems playing on in minor leagues, are often targeted. Brereton copped a broken jaw years ago after retirement. I enjoyed watching Baz, good player who did swing a few punches, same as plenty of others, ie Ditterich, Matthews, Plugger. Deserved being inducted into Hall of...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I actually feel sick about this. This is exactly what everyone has been fearing. St.Kilda promised a "big fish" so now we're going to pay overs for a bloke in a position that we don't need. I like him as a player, I enjoy watching him. Reads the play well, as brave as they come. But just ...

Re: I am worried ....
Not sure we "were promised a big fish". I think the statement was more like we will be aggressive at FA and trading this year, and also the next couple of years. . The inference was that it would be expensive FA which clearly was a "bigFish" even if the club did not use what is ...

Re: I am worried ....
I am concerned that we have been promised a 'Big Fish'. With Kelly, Martin and Whitfield all recommitting, I am concerned that our 'think tank' will just grab anyone who comes along and parade them as a 'big fish'. I am still hopeful of getting a coup at the trade table, but I am concerned that we ...

Re: How's that great deal looking now?
If I buy a car for an absolute bargain price, but after a few kilometres it breaks down and needs repairs costing more than I paid for it, does that mean the original deal was still a bargain, or is it now a terrible deal because of the ultimate outcome ? The end result determines the value of the ...

Re: How's that great deal looking now?
Top 20 or 25. Not much difference. I've broken down Elshaug's record for the six years he's been in charge. I've broken it into the various categories, including the most controversial one, which is the jury is out section. I included players in this category, who for one reason or another have not...

Re: How's that great deal looking now?
If its too early to tell, why raise it? On face value, it is one of the most one sided deals ever achieved. End of story. Not yet it's not. What if we blow the two picks? Get a Kane Tenace and a Barry Brooks for example? The whole outcome depends on what we do with the pick 7 we acquired. Jury out ...

Re: How's that great deal looking now?
Is the OP serious? Has trade week already finished and we got nothing? Has Florent turned out to be a first year superstar? Have we already agreed that there's no decent talent going at picks 7 & 8 this year? Did JOM not struggle with injury most of 2017? Have Elshaug's excellent selections in ...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Jaxons is a fraud as has been proven on Bigfooty. I don't think anything said on Big Footy can prove anything. No-one would know 100% at this stage and the situation could change quickly. Jaxons has been pretty reliable in the past, but no-one would know 100% at this stage and the situation could c...

He obviously has some attitude issues, but if the Saints think they could turn him around would be worth a look. Mate, 2017 was disappointing, no dispute.
