Re: Rhys Stanley
I think skeptic summed it up too a tee.
If Rhys slotted into hawthorn he'd do well, at the same time slot say Gunstan into us,probably no big star
but you pinch Roughhead with Roo, probably be ok.

Re: Brisbane won....
Roo looks more worn out and losing the love as each game goes by.
He needs a hand at the same time need someone going forward.
Stanley,Maister,Lee,Sippos, all been touted as the savour yet to do the business yet.
Got enough spoons at the moment.
Best available big man or swap for one.

Re: 14 players under 50 games
Yeah, I agree this is where we're at.
Shnieder may be an ok sub,but I question his place going forward.
Jones not sure, probably prefer to rotate young guys through the team/sandy.
I doubt if gwilt will be back.

In all fairness I think cloke's 2nd was a free against Stanley, replay showed cloke had Stanley by the throat, when Delaney went off with injured hip,
came back on but wasn't right.

I forgot to ask....Does this stadium deal get any airplay in Melb.?
Is it just "your problem",stiff s##t.?

Re: Our looming debt problem: thinking outside the square.
I was watching the Marngrook footy show I think the week before last and Kevin Bartlett was on and he got pretty vocal about the inequality of the stadium deal to us and bulldogs. He pointed out the money made on one NZ game more than all of Etihad(same as I read on here),mentioned it a couple of tim...

It is good to hear Hickey helping coach ruckmen, sounds like he's a clubman,BTW why wouldn't Jolly be doing that?

Re: please win more games melbourne......because...
Personally I think Melb got rid of a few older players abit early a couple of years ago. (McDonald,Bruce,Green etc) so as a result got games into kids.Lambs to the slaughter plus they lost other guys like Sylvia,Rivers etc. Now these guys have a few games under their belt playing together,a new coac...

Re: Again on the Ruckman
I've often wondered whether Barry Brookes may have made a go of it if he had a coach who rated ruckmen. I think tap outs to clearance is the only real stat. I thought in the BLions game we got the tap to our blokes but they were unable to get clear and go forward. Back in the Lions premiership years...

Re: Seb Ross
I think you need in & under players and all players lack something. I watched the game on tv and did not notice him much. He probably gives Lenny a cut out so that's good. A replacement may be faster but never get a contested possession. People on here bagged Luke Ball, too slow, cant kick,etc,bu...

I thought he said what he thought he'' had to say''/no excuses, outplayed, better side on the night,
but was so insincere almost condescending.
Personally reckon he's sitting back let Roos get Melb. straightened out then wait for them to throw big money at him.

Wow,I was out by a mile there.
Just curious though, is that from bums on seats or because of incentives, subsidies and lower costs?

Re: Kiwis not buying in
I moved from from Melb. to Bris. in 1986 and AFL results didn't make the evening news.It was all rugby league and rugby union abit back in second. Kiwi's are passionate rugby union and rugby league and follow national sides and love beating aussie's. I don't know if they are "sports mad" a...

Re: Changes this week
I'd like to see Stanley at chf ( similar to the Leigh Brown Coll. role) but I don't think he's quite smart enough. Roo out of the goal square,I think he needs a rest,he looks buggared early in the games. Bruce into back line for Beau, Gwilt as 3rd forward/swing man. Billings for savage Simpkin /robe...

Re: Pretty ordinary
My memory from back then was there wasn't enough room for Milne & Guerra.
Guerra was very good at shirtfronts which wouldn't be tolerated today.
When Hamill ,the enforcer/aggressor failed to recover from his knee I thought
Guerra seemed to not go the ball so much as try to be the tough guy.

Re: St Kilda going home !!
If the ground is to be good enough for cricket finals then seating capacity, toilets, food etc etc would have to be a certain standard. That would be good enough for hosting lower crowd number games such as interstate games, and have a afl tenant, obviosly St.Kilda. I think that Carlton tried and faile...

Re: Bottoming out well
It's been mentioned here GWS might not be able to keep all in salary cap I think the other point is opportunity.
They'll be some good players who cant get a regular game and as most are recruited from somewhere besides nsw
we may be able to top up from there as well.

Re: Good vibes about our coach
GT was a good motivator, mentor, inovator, etc etc but coped a lot of criticism for match day coaching(whether justified or not) RL I didn't like him at first but grew to respect/like him. AR seems like a decent well respected bloke so we'll see. I hope for once a nice guy comes first, while he's our co...
