Re: Let's Talk About the Elephant In the Room
Everyone gets excited as every now and then he takes a good contested mark. Apart from that, he is an injury prone player who is very one dimensional. Instead of leading to the ball carrier, he leads out the back or to the boundary line nearly every time. If he does try to lead at the kicker, he rar...

Re: Votes v Freo
5 Marshall 4 NWM 3 Sinclair 2 Wilson 1 Owens Hammer was good with his 2 goals and his ability to inspire his team mates. I watched the replay and was bemused when he was rewarded a free kick when it was actually King who was interfered with. There were 2 separate 1 on 1 battles going on about 10 m ...

Re: King ...out of form or
In comparison to all of the other key forwards of the last 10 years, King’s goals are similar at a games played stand point. My issue is what he is doing when we don’t have the ball. Will not put any inferred pressure on or attempt to lay a tackle. He is miles behind every other key forward except h...

Re: Top 5 pick
Hopefully we don’t overlook another Petracca type for a key position player. It’s no wonder our midfield stinks when we never believed in using high picks on them preferring key forwards

5. Steele. 10 tackles to halftime. 4. Marshall. Absolute warrior. Meek had a huge impact for the hawks though particularly at centre bounce. 3. Battle. Looked likely went he went forward 2. Wood. Tried to run & create. Couple of strong marks. Nearly got us over the line. 1. Bonner. His good outw...

Re: King ...out of form or
Turns 24 shortly so he should be in his prime but he has so many flaws. I can handle games where he is beaten by good defenders & doesnt kick many goals. It’s the lack of forward pressure/inferred pressure that he provides when he doesn’t have the ball. Allergic to even attempt to chase or tackl...

Re: King ...out of form or
Someone nailed it with the no leading patterns. If he is in front the opposition gets a fist in. Too often he goes under 12 style from behind. Worst thing is he is allergic to tackling or defensive pressure. 66 tackles in 75 games coming in today. C’mon, don’t give me this he is “23 years old”. Unle...

I’m happy with selection. I wouldn’t worry too much about Lance not being happy in Melbourne. He is absolutely invested in my view & looks a serious player. I was at the VFL on the weekend & noticed at 3 qtr time huddle Liam Henry with RTB at the huddle talking to Lance. They seem to be enco...

Re: Trade King
I’ve been on this for quite some time. I’d rather have a Miocheck type which Caminiti does than a bloke who we will pay a fortune to forever kick points & out on the fulls from fairly good positions. Honestly, he is almost 24. Has he ever had a strong game against a top side? 3 plus goals etc. W...

Re: Kicking at goal
I don't buy the assertion that St Kilda's kicking for goal is historically among the worst in the comp Acc: Accuracy = (Goals / shots at goal) 2024 - 15th - 41.6% acc (league avg 49.3%) 2023 - 10th - 47.8% acc (league avg 48.0%) 2022 - 10th - 48.1% acc (league avg 48.8%) 2021 - 10th - 46.9% acc (le...

Don’t mind this selection. Our first 3 picks went 1,2 & 3 for the agility test at the draft combine. No doubt we want players who are elusive with great lateral movement. Hastie looks a useful type

Re: Under the pump....Ben King
Exactly how I see it Vortex. Massive year & he is more than capable with a great group of coaches. I have no doubt Ross will be drilling into him to give more defensively as well as having extra clubs in the kit back so to speak than just a high mark from the side or from behind.

Re: Under the pump....Ben King
Out of all of the key forwards of the last 15 years Ben & Max are the only two players I can find who average less than a tackle per game. Ben is paltry at 0.6 per game, Max goes at 0.9 per game with his best season being his first year with shorter quarters owing to Covid. Yes, his job is to ma...

Re: Pass mark for 2024
Agreed on the sentiment we’ll drop out of the 8 next season. We need to build a side that can consistently play off at pointy end. The sides playing off in the preliminary finals have midfield stars & all have top end draft picks in their midfield. We are paying the price for horrible recruiting...

Re: How 17 clubs missed chance to snare Saints gun
Herald Sun - so don't even click - but it has to be Owens. Has there ever been a 2nd round draft pick that is in the running for the NAB Rising Star? I know there has been at least a couple of winners from later draft picks. Adam Goodes won it from a pick 43. Hannebery also won from pick 30 in the ...

Best post IMO from Beno88 I’ve read in ages. What is this fascination with bringing in Dean Kent style spuds. I’m not sure about Cordy but he cost us nothing but coin & fills a need. Outside of that, we may have asked the question of Bowes but he likely would have said get stuffed, i want to pla...

Re: How good are Geelong and how far away are we .
This narrative that we beat Geelong during the season meaning we aren’t far away is laughable. We also flogged Richmond by 15 goals the season they started their 3 flags in 4 years run. How did we perform over the following seasons? We are seduced by the occasional good performance at Marvel Stadium...

Re: The one area we must dominate the Cats
It’s the midfield that will dictate the result. Unfortunately at the moment we are relying on King & Higgins to kick the bulk of our score. If we don’t find more avenues to goal, 8-11 goals will be our end result. Our midfielders just aren’t dangerous enough. None of them are good kicks with the...

Re: Dan Hannebery's recruitment and retention on our list is the epitome of why we will never win a premiership.
No doubt the Hannebery deal has been a massive fail & sums up the Einstein’s at St.Kilda. I feel the more late indictment is our ability to give up or lose players to premiership contenders for virtually nothing on a yearly basis. Currently Hickey & McCartin both are at Sydney. Stanley for p...

Re: the evidence is clear: - umpires do decide a game!
I wish just one day perhaps in a couple of finals, we’d get a run from the umpires like the dogs. Last year at the Gabba I believe 7 of their 10 goals against us came from a free kick. It was funny that today it was Essendon though Ask Doggies supporters about the 09 prelim final! It’s amusing that...
