Re: Vent your spleen thread
From the first minute it looked like we had psyched ourself out of a win and they had psyched themselves into a win. We were always going to lose from the first bounce. It was one of those games we were desperate to lose and just could not take a trick. Ray should have won it for us - as simple as ...

Re: LTI rookie upgrade for Wright
I'm not convinced by Shenton. Yes, he is once again an excellent VFL player (as he was before we recruited him and his form dropped off) but I don't see any weapons that would worry opposition sides. He's a reasonably well-rounded half back at VFL level but his pace, skill and strength won't stand ...

Re: Billy Hartung article
It's funny I know the team mates of Billy Hartung.... And they paint a very different picture of him.... So Your comparison with Ledger is interesting, although I don't think Tom was a poor footballer (most certainly should have been given more opportunity) Tom lacked off field discipline (work rat...

As members, that is paying customers, we are entitled, if not to the warts and all story, to something a lot better than the syrupy potion that was the Presidents letter sent this afternoon.

Re: Laidley to Carlton?
Dean Laidley's strength is in his ability to read a game from the box. Wherever he's coached he has always had responsibility for rotations and key moves. We may be able to recruit another highly skilled midfield coach but we won't do quite as well for game day vision and talent.

and Freeman is exciting, he leaves opponents standing with that whopping step. I don't think there is much at all between him and the top 4. If we want endless outside run then Hartung, who will also be a fan fav will still probably be there in the high teens to low twenties.

Re: Aish today
From the v start of speculation about this year's order of selection in the draft I've found it difficult to understand why Aish and Kelly are rated by some in the top three. They're not onballers. With all of the usual qualifications they both will still play most of their footy on the wing. They'r...

No. He won't be picked up. He's well known for his inability to run out a game and his inability to compete. He's the last player Freo would want.dragit wrote:He'll get to freo for free now and we'll have to fight it out for michie... Awesome stuff.

Re: Saints Chasing David Myers
Can't believe that this thread is this big and yet there has been no thoroughgoing assessment of David Meyers as a player. He is an elite kick-his accuracy and preparedness to back himself from outside 50 is without parallel. He's had a breakout season. He's very fit. He's tough and determined. Esse...

Re: Sandy Win a Game - Without Ledger
Apart from Ledger did all our emergencies play because history suggests if only one misses out then there is no change but if 2 missthere can sometimes be a change. Minch played, Ledger and Saunders didn't - so who knows? Spot on. There will be a late change today Just wanted to thank you for your ...

Re: Was that Big Ben's worst game ever?
His skills are good. He's the slowest player in the AFL and he can't jump: two factors that haven't changed since the day he started and won't change. What is changing though is the game itself. Perhaps the limited interchange will reduce the current premium on speed. I hope so because Ben McEvoy ju...

Good to see Curren still running and competing in the lat quarter. How much ground has Geary covered. Great team effort in adversity.

We've been competitive. We have only one tall forward in Roo and no
proper kp backmen. Honest performance by almost all our up and comers against huge odds.

Re: saints v swans match thread
Woeful midfield effort- just shows where we need to do some pretty smart list management and recruiting. Armo tries hard but is too slow, NDS puts absolutely no physical pressure on his tagger. I would hate to play in the Saints backline, the ball just continually comes at you. Total lack of defens...

Re: Shenton upgrade
Don't know how he could expect a game when there is a perception that he picks and chooses when to put his head over the pill and still doesn't run hard enough defensively. One would assume he has had these issues pointed out and had it explained how they could be overcome. [/quote] Couldn't agree ...

Re: Minchington v Ledger !!
He hasn't. Getting the ball and butchering it isn't outperforming anyone. Butchering it more times a game than anyone else is just a variant on 30 x 0. Minchington was selected becuase he uses it well, he's hard, defensively he tries to keep the ball in the forward line and he plays for the side. If...

Re: Minchington v Ledger !!
What are those issues? Confirmed or a belief?? Quite frankly, I'd like to know the truth! On evidence, it's head scratcher.. They're on display every time he goes around for Sandy. He's well below average defensively. He doesn't go in to tackle when he should - unless he's second or third man in. H...

He deserves a chance. He's come from nowhere, spent most of last year in the Zeb's ressies, is hard at it and has stacked on the muscle.

Re: Who are leaving at seasons end?
I'm not that worried about which Rookies will go, its the main list that's going to be hard to manage. Kosi and Blake. Surely at least 2 of TDL, Saad, Milne , Schnieder ( depending on circumstances ). Probably Ledger. My understanding is that after 2 years, Lever has only just started to show some ...
