Re: Jaxons views on draft

Forgive the capitals and the fact that at least one poster has already made the point but the very strong likelihood is that Stephenson SIMPLY WON"T BE THERE AT PICK 7. There is just so much wish fulfillment in draft projections. For example now that North Melbourne have done absolutely everyth...

Re: Cal Twomey picks Fogarty and Higgins for Saints

The best two left after the first 6 are gone. The one thing we can be sure of is that rumours that North will call Fogarty at 4 and the Pies then select a KPP are nonsense. Given the way the game is played there has never been more, understandable, prejudice against KPP's. I'm happy to predict that ...

Re: Whom would you like to see have a massive 2018?

Before improvement I'd like to see Steven, Armitage and Freeman fully fit all year. Then I'd like to see: Sinclair beat Geary in the pre-season time trial and keep going all year to improve his effort at the contest Connellan find more of the ball and play firsts football But above all Brandon White...

Re: Barrett claiming Saints have tabled a deal for Tomlinson

I'm afraid I don't agree with much of that. The one point I do agree with is that he has at times been exceptional in the middle in the NEAFL. He has never commanded an automatic place in the Giants side, fundamentally because he's a slow thinker with ball in hand. He was last in for the recent game...

Re: Left field pickups in upcpming trade period

People may also remember he was v good against us in the preseason game this year, where he showed a ton of dash. Hopefully we've been in his ear for months but I doubt it.

Re: Left field pickups in upcpming trade period

They'd trade him out for the same reason that more contracted players will be traded out than uncontracted every trade period. That is either they think they can get a player or a pick that they want more or the player himself for whatever reason, including more money elsewhere, wants to go and the ...

Re: Arnitage up for trade

He's worth nothing to any other club in his current condition. He's been a good player for us and we'll just have to do our best to get him right. Really felt for him when after slogging through surgery and an extended wait he was sore again pretty much straight away. The club hasn't said so but it ...

Re: Arnitage up for trade

Given that he appears to be suffering from a chronic groin injury, will not start pre-season ready to do a full load, hasn't shown his best form since 2015 and turns 30 next year - bugger all.

Re: Left field pickups in upcpming trade period

You may remember there were some off-field issues earlier in the year but I don't think it's that: rather that Melican has gone past him. His reserves form has been v good though and other clubs are interested so, like almost every player mentioned, maybe not that left field but a good idea nonethel...

That's fine when we've got the ball. When we don't lesser players run through and around our defensive lines. We chase but rarely catch.

Re: Saints Back in for Dusty

Kelly will sign a 2 or 3 year contract so he can finish the business of winning a premiership and then sell out to the highest bidder. I'm not sure about Martin. I've got a feeling he will stay at the tigers. But what if GWS win this years Premiership, why would he stay then? To win another one.

Re: The current St Kilda ITK leaks on Big Fish

Yes but my point is that he may not be worth anything like what we'd have to give to get him. He was the number 1 pick in 2012 and other clubs are interested. The club made a mistake when instead of actually recruiting midfielders with our high picks they started this big fish palaver. We'd be bette...

Re: The current St Kilda ITK leaks on Big Fish

That's right. Look at Hopper. There are three or four big clubs after him. He was an early draft selection and it will take a v early R1 selection to land him. Carlton favs with pick 3, anyone else will have to give up their first pick and a v good player. One first round pick will not be enough to ...

Re: Out of the Kelly race?

I disagree with those who say that Paul Connors' public statements concerning Kelly are somehow deliberately misleading. Kelly will stay, for now, and the announcement is simply being delayed for maximum effect. Happy to have a small wager via pm with any and all of those who think he's coming to St...

Re: Out of the Kelly race?

Matters more where Kelly want's to go, and my word is it's to St Kilda. How on earth do you know that? Unfortunately he doesn't. It may have been true a couple of months ago but not now. His manager has been interviewed several times and made it as clear as he can that he believes Kelly should/will...

Re: It's Your Call, Rooey!

If left up to Roo he will pay himself $800k for the year. Not as simple as leaving it up to him. Players always want one extra year. I think that's right Con. Doubtless the club would be prepared to pay him 250-300k for 12-15 games next year though if he really wanted them. For my money I think he ...

1 Ross: not his fault he had to go backwRds and sideways so often as we are v slow

We will aleady have more than enough space on the list after delisting those whose footy isn't up to AFL standard. We don't need to delist two of our better players in order to get 2 speculative draft selections in the 100's. As usual citywest, banal masochistic troll, manages to invest every debate...

Re: VFL Rd 7 Sandringham Vs Footscray

Whatever he exercise regimen he followed prior to his return it won't have been as intensive or effective as the club's pre-season training. He is behind and he looks behind. His best asset is his aggression and long-kicking out of defence, his worst that he is glacially slow but judging him at this...

Re: VFL Rd 7 Sandringham Vs Footscray

I saw a fair bit of it. Holmes went okay insofar as getting his hand to it was concerned. The second it hit the deck we were ouitclassed. The Dogs second string midfield was simply too skilled and, in particular, too quick for ours. Their stats make for revealing reading. McLean had 38 touches and 1...
