Re: Eli
He didn't get a lot of the ball but we got quality results whenever he took possession. You have just got to remember he is only 18. He was composed at all times and showed he has many more sticks than just beng a Milney wannabe. Reminded me a lot of Daisy Thomas in his first season and not just for...

Re: CROWD
The crowd would have been larger if more Saints members and supporters turned up. My missus noted before the game the strength of the Demons supporters in their cheer squad area against the number of empty seats behind the goals at the Saints cheer squad end. When those bastards kicked the frst two ...

Re: Saunders
I was extremely pleased with Saunders tonight and his tackle on Bernie Vince will be on the AFL highlights tape at the end of the season. It signalled the start of our mini goal spree that cemented our win. I got the feeling it dawned on Josh tonight that he can make an AFL footballer out of himself...

Re: Post your apologies to Clinton Jones here...
Once again showed his value to the Club while the rest of us tap away on our computers nit-picking his every move. He always gives his all; tonight he was outstanding. Clubs might start tagging him instead if the other way around. Great game CJ.

Re: So how did people rate Delaney's game?
Played more like Delvene Delaney than Luke Delaney in the first half but he settled in well in the second half and will be a regular key defender for us. It would be a big call for him to star first up but, after a couple of shocking clangers in the second quarter, he played a serviceable game. Not ...

Re: Dunstan!
Best debut since Big Carl in '63! I've just got home from the game (a lazy 200km drive) and you've reminded me that Shadow's debut was also against Melbourne and round 1. I don't agree with the "best debut since" comment because there was another 19 year old midfielder who played an extre...

Re: We are expected to finsh bottom this year!
I'll be happy if we finish 14th, delighted if e finnishe between 13th and 10th. The facts are we are a far better team than the one that won 5 games last year - the lat two convincingly when Watters saw fit to bring Blakey back in to bolster our undermanned defence before showing him the door. Our d...

Re: Best taggers in the AFL
Don't know why I bother going to matches at all. Too many comments on this topic appear to be from from people who watch on TV / listen on radio / read the papers / listen to what the next door neighbour's great-aunt told them. Objectivity is below par. At least we know (as early as 14 January) who ...

Re: 1968 - missed opportunity for Saints
Agree with the tone of the topic. The Shadow was probably the most devastating player in the VFL in 1968. I have a video of us flogging the Tigers (the reigning premiers, remember) at Moorabbin and Big Carl collected something like 28 kicks. That single game should be put in a time capsule as an exa...

will we be doing the march around the dome again in 2015 ?? Mate, I hope so and will be doing everything I can to make it an annual event on "Fan Day". The march is on for this year on August 10 (Bulldogs game). I will be ramping up the propaganda as it gets closer !! Need to write a new ...

Re: Greg Baum a saints man
Great, brilliantly written article. And the topic is the reason why you should never sell any team short. If older players such as Roo and Lenny still have the fire in their bellies and are not just turning up every week just because it has become a habit there is no reason why 2014 will not be an e...

Re: Jimmy to re-establish himself
I think anybody willing to write-off J Gwilt either doesn't go to Saints matches, doesn't appreciate the workload he has had to carry with the loss of Dawson and extended absenses of Fisher, Gilbert and Blake, or probably just don't know anything about footy.
Or, all of the above. Go Jimmy!

Re: Milney updates
Yeah right. Who leaves 200K+ job for what? Nothing?? pretty much every player that ever played stopped at some point for one reason or another Correct. Was Milne suffering too much due to injury? Not a chance. Had Milne lost the desire to play enough to forgo the income? Again unlikely. The only re...

Still recon Watson was planted by Sheedy so he could pour more misery on us! Got to hand it to Tim, though. He didn't milk us any longer than he had to, just put his hand up and admitted he wasn't up to the job.

Lets get Joel Smih back too have to think about that one...he did walk out on us..but then, the club didn't do him any favours either.... Walked out? To where, Stinger? He retired, then coached locally for several years, got to watch plenty of AFL as a special comments man for ABC radio (and did it...

Jezza or Tony Jewell - both premiership coaches!
Better still - Malcolm Blight! He has won two as a coach! How could we go wrong?

We can buy our membership tickets in the comfort of knowing the club knows where it is at, where it wants to go and how it is going to get there.

I'll give you Matthews & Blight, not sure about Roos's 1 flag… Was Sheedy a great player? No but he was very good. Believe me, Sheedy was a great player and pivitol to Richmond's success in the late 60's and early 70's. It's too easy to paint him as an unskilled clown as time passes because he ...

No doubt in my mind from early in the season that SW & Co realised that sticking with the status quo mght snare us a positition in somewhere between 10th and 13th but such a result would only delay an inevitable downward spiral. He chose to experiment and blood new and inexpierenced players. Thi...

Milney, you really have been the human defibrillator for so many Saints supporters over the past 13 years.
