Worried
if the press reports are to be believed our prospects of getting anything decent out of the free agency period are looking decidedly glum. I know it is early days. And maybe Pelchen and Watters haven't shown their real hand ( I hope). But.....we are shaping up to be the big losers. If we are genuine...

Re: Why Caddy?
I think the St Kilda brains trust hope that he could become another Lenny Hayes. Having said that there is only one Lenny Hayes and he is magnificent and irreplaceable. But if Caddy turns out to be even 60 percent of Lenny Hayes then he is worth pursuing. He is a natural midfielder good brain, good ...

Leave Brendan Alone I say
I have read some utter BS about Brendan Goddard on this site and about how he is going to cop it when we play the Bombers. The guy was entitled to do what he did end of story. He was a free agent. Welcome to the new world of the AFL. His departure hurt us and there will be many more like him- star p...

Reality Check
Ok so we are said to be chasing Caddy and Mitch Brown. Caddy has at least three clubs chasing him maybe more. Geelong would have to be the front runner to get him as a compo pick for Ablett. That puts them ahead of us. Brown is still under contract to the Weagles. i can't see us giving away pick 13 ...

Re: Josh Caddy Profile
Caddy sounds like a possible replacement for Lenny when he hangs up the boots but we might struggle to secure him with Geelong also reported to be interested in getting him and having that compo pick up their sleeve for the Ablett departure.

Re: Mitch Brown
Just checked out the Weagles fan forum and they really pay out on this guy big time. Very divided on his abilities and defensive skills and disposal. They say he is injury prone and is a poor decision maker under pressure. Yet he kept Buddy Franklin to one goal until Brown went off injured. If he ca...

Re: Next Move
He had two mediocre years by his standards but he is still a class act. He almost singlehandedly won the GF for the Saints in 2010. His best years might be behind him but Essendon doesn't think so and the Saints were prepared to pay him $1.9 over three years to keep him.

How good is Lenny Hayes?
This guy is amazing. He comes back after knee surgery and plays a blinder of a season. Wins the club best and fairest and then we get the news he has a heart defect. Rumour has it that the surgery was more serious than the club let on. He has a scar all the way down his chest. His surgeon apparently...

I really, really hope that Pelchen is as canny as he is reputed to be in picking prospects. I also hope Watters and Pelchen have something up their sleeve for next week. We've been dealt a major blow losing Goddard. There is no doubt about that. He was one of our best and now he's a bomber. I know w...

Re: Jamie Cripps & Kobby Stevens swap club
Why do people on this forum keep saying that Kobby Stevens is slow? He isn't. He is marginally slower than the Eagles fastest midfielder Shuey according to their sprint tests. The guy doesn't lack leg speed. The way people are talking they make him sound like a cart horse which he isn't.

Bye Bye BJ
Ok Brendan Goddard has officially gone. The Saints aren't going to match the Essendon offer. Wanted the money and to play in a premiership team. Clearly BJ doesn't see the Saints as contenders. He's entitled to his opinion. I say he is wrong. So what happens now? Presumably we get a first round draf...

I am on the record for singing the praises of Scott Watters. I think he is an astute coach and he has changed the team game plan for the better in my view. But it is interesting to see who has flourished and who has fallen by the wayside, players I mean, in his first year as coach. He has certainly ...

Re: No premiership denial - Harvey or Riewoldt
Forget about Harvey or Rooey. Think of all of those loyal, long suffering fans of this football team who live in a constant state of disappointment. Let me remind you the last time we won a flag was 46 years ago. That is an absolute disagrace but I also live in constant hope. That is the upside of b...

Scott Watters
As we turn our attentions to who is coming and going from St Kilda, what do we make of Watters first year as coach of the Saints? Ross Lyon was a good footy coach no doubt about that. Look at what he did for the Dockers this year. They are barely recognisable on last year's form. But I'm happy to sa...

Re: We desperately neecd a couple of Talls
With the greatest respect I thought we had a good game plan this year, a fit team, discipline and belief. Maybe not momentum because we lost too many games. Granted the margins were not big but wasn't it obvious that we just didn't have the talent? I mean we are not playing in the finals.

We desperately neecd a couple of Talls
If the St Kilda Football Club needs a key, tall defender and another ruckman as the coach seems to think, who can the club realistically expect to recruit? Does it hinge on losing BJ to be able to afford to recruit well? Please don't interpet this as a desire on my part to offload Brendan Goddard. I...

Not wanting to get carried away but this was a win to get excited about. Finally we showed something of what the team can do, what Watters can do and more importantly what he brings to the table for this team. There have been signs of it even in the losses but I feel more confident in saying that th...

Where are we at?
So season 2012 is over for the St Kilda football club? Judging by what I have read on this forum that's certainly the opinion of some of you. How you can you make such a bald claim on the basis of a handfull of games is stretching credibitlity IMO, but I get the feeling a lot of "supporters&quo...

Re: Police will re-examine claims against Stephen Milne
Hang on. Let's not get carried away here. The police are not re-opening the investigation. It is simply a case of the police investigating themselves. The Office of Police Integrity is wanting to satisfy itself that the original investigation was conducted impartially and without fear, favour or adv...

A lot of BS has been written on this forum of late on the Wilkes substitution c**k up. Some of the crap I have read has even questioned the credentials of Scott Watters as coach. I mean really. The guy has been in the job for five minutes. He has publicly admitted he made a mistake. Are you telling m...

Not exactly D day for the Saints
I guess the usual suspects - the naysayers who rarely have anything good to say about the St Kilda football club yet call themselves supporters on this forum- will be lining up to take potshots after we struggled to see off the Dees. But they are wrong yet again. This was a tough game of football. T...

Gwilt's Return
For those who might be interested like me, James Gwilt had a very successful outing in his first game back after his ACL injury. He picked up 16 disposals for the Zebs against Williamstown, eight of them in the first quarter. The medical staff restricted his game time to 80 minutes. Great to see he ...
