Re: Steven
He's actually been getting better all year despite getting tight tags now. If he could hit targets in the fwd 50 better would be icing on the cake. Maybe due to exhaustion which he can improve as he gets older.

Re: saints v swans match thread
Positive out of the negative - the huge pressure these guys have been under ALL YEAR is fast tracking their defensive abilities. Once we can win it out of the middle regularly they can look at being more damaging setting up attacks.gringo wrote:Wow Geary and Roberton and Gilbo are a good defensive team.

Re: Shenton or Gilbo
I do know lenny is in. righto but seriously - playing a guy who hasnt played in 12 weeks and actually isnt that good anyway (gilbo) over a guy in good form who we want a look at (shenton) has me really questioning our coach. what a joke. The match committee is being conservative with the young play...

Macca does look slow. Hickey doing some nice tap work. Steven - rivalling Rooey for best player at the club now. Great pressure - small ground suiting them- need to keep it up

Re: Sad for Saad
If the Viking protein powder is responsible for Saad's positive test how the hell did no one from St Kilda pick up that he was sponsored by them and check it out?? You could find it out with a google of Saad's name. Its poor governance really and shows how poorly resourced the club is. There should ...

Re: If Lyon had stayed at the Saints
Well put Kickit. THE THINGS PEOPLE FORGET ABOUT LYON 1) Lyon waltzed in to an unbelievable finals hardened list who had bonded strongly - Roo, Hayes, Ball, Goddard, Dal, Monty, Milne, Fisher, Gilbo etc etc etc. Even Thomas (who a lot of people still scratch their how the hell he got an AFL coaching ...

Re: Ordinary signs
We are in the "fog of rebuild" where its hard for supporters to really appreciate what is going on in the depths of the club - we only see the surface on game days. Like a lighthouse in the darkness, I have faith in Watters shining light (that was more poetic than I meant )

Re: Dermott's love for watters
Watters has got a cool head on his shoulders. Keeps his eye on at the big picture which all good coaches do. I'm sure players love his clarity and level headedness.

Re: Blakes game
Blake has served his time well. To keep him on, would only keep a young future potential player from being developed. We won't be playing for a final 8 position next year. i hear u guys but if we fail to get a KB this daft/trade and we have the same issues with Gwilt Fisher again next year it would...

Positive frame of mind:
Smooth, classy, cool under pressure, penetrating kick, awesome fro
Negative frame of mind:
Laconic, lazy, doesn't give a damn, get some no-frizz shampoo man!

Re: Give Jones another contract
With all the scheduled retirements at the end of the year I get the feeling they'll keep Jonesy on the list. At the very least he'll be good back up in the squad and a good role model for training. I want to see the young ones force him out of his place in the team though sometime next year.

Oh and how good is Roberton? He's a tough nut with ice in his veins - never panics. I almost take him for granted now because he is so consistent. Its nice having a rock solid performer you can rely on in the back half with all the changes.

Re: Some signs
Another good sign was we seemed to play a bit of tempo footy at times, chipping it around with short kicks to cool things down when it looked like spiralling out of control big time. I noticed even Hawthorn seemed to take it down a gear after that. A good tool to have to be able to control a game.

I can't bring myself to bag him and nor can I find a valid reason. Superstar but unfortunately too many have short memories  Absolute superstar. A privilege to have watched his career. We Saints supporters have been on an unbelievable roller coaster ride with Roo over the last 13 years. Seen t...

Re: Ordinary signs
In a weird way it may be long term positive that it is obvious to all that we are pretty ordinary and will probably be for at least a 2-3 years. We will have no illusions where we are at. It lets the club focus on a full long term rebuild rather than "we could make the eight...who knows how far...

Re: R we really that far away
Its all relative isn't it. Gold Coast, GWS, Richmond, North etc who are our initial competitors are all going to keep improving their lists, body sizes etc. If you're not going forward you are going backwards. But I can see some clear development in the young players ability to play contested footy ...

Re: Get physical, Ben!
He's a young ruckman getting battered around all year (had a bleeding nose tonight) in a losing team. People should cut him some slack. Been battling a sore foot. Needs a another couple of years to really come into his own. As he grows in confidence I'm sure he can get a bit more mongrel in him and ...

Re: Some signs
That kid Schneider will be handy next year... That said, I am happy that although none of those kids look star material, I think they are showing enough to suggest they can be good to very good players "potentially" and that they could infact raise the bar of our overall list. I think its...

Re: It's time to give Spencer White his shot...
Would hope the best game for debut Gold Coast here under roof young defence to play against . Why play in Brisbane when likely to be wet or dewy I think . Could be wrong Good call. If he bags one or two sausage rolls would be a great boost for supporters over the off-season after (another!) annus h...
