Re: Man City/Heart at Moorabbin?
Nothing wrong with Seaford, it serves it's purpose, it's a good deal for a club that operates on a shoestring budget , and, the Coffee shop clique have almost gone, so there's no issue. Seaford does nothing to enhance the Club's commercial position which is the basis of our future. As a training ve...

Re: Man City/Heart at Moorabbin?
I hope not.. We need Linton St to be one of our main options when we bail out of Seaford and the quicker we do it the better

Re: swan new CEO ?
Only threw up Robson's name because at H'thorn he had a huge reputation. Left there after a fallout with Jeff K but Kennett at the time acknowledged the guy's ability and thats how he ended up at E'don (if the story is accurate). They just couldn't work with each other. At E'don perhaps Robson shoul...

Re: swan new CEO ?
Did Robson (Hawks/E'don) end up at another Club or did he just fall on his sword at E'don and drift off into the wilderness?

Re: Heartland spurned
We are not the Hawks. We do not have their membership base or any thing approaching it. There is no point given our present position in staying at Seaford. It is a financial put off for sponsors and does nothing to try and advance or provide some drive/impetus to do something about membership. Big s...

Re: Heartland spurned
i might be differant but in my opinion why would you want to bother with rehashing over things that have already been done ? Seaford - what will be gained by getting a statement like that ? honestly why is it soo important too you to hear the club say it was a mistake ? how will saying it was a mis...

Re: Your Expectations of the Saints over the coming seasons
On the playing front I want to see the progressive development of the list and its playing 'style' to set itself up finals football although as said before there will be more pain before this happens. Off field I want us out of Chelsea and although I have a personal preference we either go to Linton...

Re: A question I would like to ask......
IMO it has to be both with the emphasis on the development of the playing list. If a win eventuates through our performance and development targets being met - terrific but our main objectives this year must be directed at doing the right things on the ground and the rest will follow.

Re: Rich club, poor club
The footy first ticket did some really good stuff however, they introduced a vast increase in spending on training, sports technology, etc, the Seaford facilities are excellent certainly compared to Moorabin. I am sure that the growth of Seaford, etc will occur over the years albeit at a slower rate...

Re: CEO update
I think some of the criticism being directed at MN is unfair. NO CEO of any orgainisation of size is an expert or the champion in all areas of the organisation's work. It is impossible. What good CEO's rely on is high class support staff who are able to advise, in some instances direct and provide i...

Re: Rich club, poor club
I thought the Age article was on the mark and it's not just those decisions on their own but the spinoffs from those decisions in areas like sponsorship from Seaford, central supporter access from Seaford, a clear financial advantage from playing in Tassie, limited commercial operations creating dec...

Saints Public Relations
Whilst driving around this arvo was listening to SEN on the radio. They had a so called PR expert on talking about the best and worst PR efforts over the year from a sporting organisation. His best results for the year was Adam Scott with the runner up being Cricket Australia who came from a basket ...

Re: The Carlton Rejects of the 80's
Wow Jones was good value. Peter McConville, as mentioned, was quite good and Ken Sheldon given his overall contribution to our club down the track, was certainly an asset. The rest, well??? Yeah Totally agree. These were the 3 that provided the real value to the Saints sides at the time. We were se...

Re: Junction Oval on the brink of collapse
A few comments about the Fitzroy St ground. According to my information StK Football Club left the ground because the financial arrangements with the StK Cricket Club had never worked in the fooball club's favour. It was costing the football club too much money to stay and retain Fitzroy St as its h...

Re: Junction Oval on the brink of collapse
Verdun was the complete player. Had great skills in all facets of the game and the determination to succeed. Things ended up a bit messy with the Saints in the end with a dispute over which WA club the Saints would clear him to.

Re: Top 5 Most Dangerous Saints
Morrow was definitely a hard nut. Had a recollection he might have fought for the Vic Amateur Heavyweight or Light Heavyweight title at one point. He certainly didn't muck around when he needed to exert his presence. The other player that comes to mind apart from the obvious ones already mentioned i...

Agree with Plugger, Heater and Geo Young. Haven't got any access to some stats but B Hall from 50 m or further didn't miss too many. Missed a few around the 30 to 40 m range.

Re: 66' never seen this b4 enjoy
I think Alan Davis ended up playing at 4 clubs. The Saints, C'wood, E'don and Melbourne. I f my memory is correct (and I really doubt it sometimes) he ended up chasing the dollars because his house burnt down up in the Dandenongs somewhere and he was trying to put money together to rebuild.

Re: Colorado trips -any value?
I think Oldie60 is on the mark. From the articles I have read there are doubtful long term physical benefits although the players essentially hit the ground running in the pre season (not meant as a joke talking abour aerobic capacity). The team orientated stuff like bonding etc would I think get a ...

Re: New coach selection panel announced
We needed credibility and integrity in bucketloads with this panel. IMHO David Parkin would have contributed in a big way to achieving this. Pelchen has to be there cause the coach reports to him in the 'structure'. With the exception of Harley who I think also adds to the integrity count the others...

Re: Centrebet no longer a major sponsor
There has been a large realignment (read new owners) of commercial betting agencies operating in this country. As a result the Centrebet sponsorship was on borrowed time. Any suggestions that the cessation of this sponsrship was due to recent events in the Club are just crap.

Re: Poll - who do you think should coach next year?
What scares the living shy..t out of me is that our history of making a good appointment to this position is not good enough. This time we need top class people doing the selection recommendation to the Board. I would go out of my way to get David Parkin in the process. He has the experience, knowle...

Re: Centrebet no longer a major sponsor
Fox hates the Saints, hence the scheme of arrangements, he won't do anything other than paint the gym.. Bit Rough W42. My memory of the scheme of arrangement times was that he said if this Club had been a business in the true sense of the word he would have buried it; not try to save it throu...

Re: #1 objective for new ceo and pres
While we are talking about Etihad did anyone notice the comments Brian Lake made in the papaer last week when questioned about his form this season. He said he had lost some weight (about 4 kgs) which helped but more significantly he said not having to play home games at Etihad had given him a huge ...
