Re: Marshall. Ruckman, forward or a bit of both?
As long as I have followed the Saints (60 years) we have struggled in the ruck. Most of the time I am happy to break even. The only decent ruckmen in that period have been Carl Ditterich. Jeff Sarau and Peter Everitt. Yes we have had the odd good game from Sidebottom, Wow Jones, Vidovic, etc. but o...

Re: This Sunday
It is the first game of AFLW I have watched even if it was on TV.
I really enjoyed it.
The Saints joining AFLW has given me an interest.

Re: Geary should not be captain in 2020 because he is not in our best 22 (IMHFO).......
I believe we also need a new Captain as we look to the future The difference is I want a captain who demands captaincy like a Cripps or Bontempelli as Roo did before. I would like to see who really steps forward this year because it is such a big year of new players. In the meantime I am very happy...

Re: Geary should not be captain in 2020 because he is not in our best 22 (IMHFO).......
I must admit, I did not see the intraclub game. I am only going by the articles on the game and the posts on here and Bigfooty. There is no way that Geary should be captain because he will not be in the starting 22. From what I can tell there is a plethora of players (small to medium defenders), th...

Re: Locks and openings round 1
Steele brings a skill set to the side, the question being Steele, Ross and Dunstan in the same side We have lost both Steven and Armitage from our mid field and I would invite the analysis of goals to games for Steven and Armitage versus Steele, Ross and Dunstan because there is the problem I would...

You could say that, Bytel is determined in his pursuit of the ball, above the quest of his opponents, and through an authoritive and resolute display of skill, aggression and power, he acquires possesion and accumulates disposals in an enviable manner or you could say, he hunts the ball. He sounds ...

Re: Should Geary follow example of Walker, Hurn and Davis and hand over Captaincy?
You’d be surprised to know how much Jarryn is rated in AFL circles, particularly by those who play against him and especially his opponents. Eddie Betts rates him as one of his toughest opponents! Skill is not just about kicking the ball... that’s one skill amongst many others, that mustn’t be well...

Re: Should Geary follow example of Walker, Hurn and Davis and hand over Captaincy?
For us to improve as a skilled team then Geary shouldn't be playing. If he is captain then how can he be dropped? It would look stupid. If he wasn't captain then it doesn't look so bad. Geary is best 5 on our list for the past 8 years unless injured. His potential replacements in defence are probab...

Re: 2020 prospects training with clubs
Jake Bowey and Archie Perkins are from Sandy Dragons. Jake is Brett Bowey's son. From a review of sandy dragons 2020: https://afl.draftcentral.com.au/2019/09/19/nab-league-boys-team-review-sandringham-dragons/ "2020 Draft Crop: While matching their 2019 haul will be a tough ask, Sandringham is ...

Re: Welcome Ryan Abbott
Both Marshall and Pierce were given a run in the preseason comp. Pierce's form was better hence he was picked for round one. Unfortunately he received a knock early resulting in concussion ans didn't play again. Bit of a tragedy really. He won the Best and Fairest at Frankston after missing games w...

Lol. He was extended and agreed. Being an accountant I'm sure he made sure the recognition added up. As a South Australian I'm also sure he knew he would have had options. It's good to never get too ahead of yourself. He has shown commitment and perhaps now sacrifice. If his form stays true it will...

People like to be recognised for performance. I am sure Callum would like to be on the senior rather than rookie list. Why give resentment a chance?

Re: The List
Can the rookies play if there are no LTI's? Yes. Yep, now that the AFL has made that change, I don't quite get what the purpose of the rookie list is. Why not just extend the numbers in the main list?? It is a HR issue. Contracts and minimum pay rates. Ahh OK. However, I bet Wilkie has had a pay ri...

Yeah. Ross is a good footballer. Probably in the top 50 in the league and if you were going to make sides of the current top 100 he would make the 4th side. On the list of St.Kilda's B&F winners in the last 20 years....well he makes the list. Credit where credit is due. I agree with most you ha...

It's interesting how ITK's are only accepted or called upon when it's positive news however when ITK's come out with something negative it's lambasted as "unsubstantiated". To be honest, you don't even need to be an ITK to have an understanding of certain players "recreational" ...

Re: Brad Johnson's revised draft ranking for 2015
Tom Doedee was a huge pick.
He was rated in the back-end of most phantom drafts (i.e. 50 -80) but Adelaide took him at pick 17 against the market view.
In hindsight he may be top 10!

Membrey, Sinclair & Lonie were great choices for late picks.
It is a pity injuries destroyed our early picks.

Re: Hannebery article HS 17/11
Is it just me or does an article, lacking substance and conviction...i.e. spin by the club, make people nervous? Why try to justify a recruiting decision made a year a go, followed by a 5 game season, followed by an out of season injury that may or may not have long term repercussions if you weren'...
