Re: Skill.......or rather the lack of it...

This is where we disagree. Under GT's game plan we won 41 out of 70 final quarters in the last 3 years compared to 8 out of 26 under RL. In 2006 we won 14 out of 23 final quarters. . So bearing in mind that post-Bonnie Doon when the Saints win loss ratio improved when GT finally adopted Plan B anda...

Rodger you are wrong.....you are creating a delusion Teams have different 'styles' of play, and they set their style to fit their strengths & weaknesses, then on match day they apply certain tactics & match ups to try to beat a particular opponent. Our style back in 04 & 05 was based on...

Re: Skill.......or rather the lack of it...

I agree about your point of lacking finishing capacity...but I don't think it is due to game plan.....and I cratainly do not believe thata "GT" Plan A game plan would allow them to finish more strongly. In the first quarters we actually look as good as we ever were from 2004. I think the ...

Re: Skill.......or rather the lack of it...

Game plan...Cat's vs Saints....had probably nothing to to with the result. The difference was the skill and poise of the players. The Cats players when there was a goal to be kicked....kicked them. Yes they had 11 goal kickers..the Saints only 6. BUT the Saints had 10, yes TEN players that kicked a...

Perverse logic :D :D . GT got a few nice draft selections as kids . RL now has the same few nice draft selections as mature footballers in their prime :D :D . Expectations are up now since the same kids took us to 2 preliminary finals when they were physically much less mature. ?????? a few nice se...

Why do people keep looking backwards to 2004..like Lot's wife in biblical times, she looked back and turned to stone. Why not argue the fact that Jeans is not still coach, or Sheldon or Jezza -give the past the flick guys. 2008, Lyon is coach, we have two wins out of three and a whole season ahead ...

After so many fade outs under RL it is blatantly obvious that our current list doesn't have the requisite stamina for RL's game plan. So what comes first? Does the list get changed to adapt to the game plan or does the game plan get adapted for our list. I believe we have a team capable of winning t...

my concern about the forward line is not fraser, nor is it kosi. it is our extreme reliance and dependence on riewoldt. personally i'd give roo a run on the wing for a while with kosi chf, gilbert hff and fraser ff. this might stop our players having eyes only for the big blond superstar and they m...

Our structures are good, our players efforts over four quarters are not. . indeed......but I would like only 2 tall forwards and a bit less tagging..and I like the idea of Gram on a wing, but that may have to wait till Goose comes back. IMO its not a question whether we should have 2 – 3 talls fo...

I am disgusted that a parent doesn't stick up for his child.

Carey is probably the 2nd best player I have seen apart from Plugger.

Carey has shown he is as bent as many off the field.

But my folks always stuck up for me which gives you the impetus for change.

I was lucky. Carey is not. Go figure.

kosi is playing forward to stop riewoldt being monstered by two and sometimes three opponents and to break down our, at times, pathetic reliance on him. kosi's ability to take contested marks (and to bring the ball to ground for milne, schneider etc) is just too important to a forward structure tha...

Banger has been targetted throughout his career. But he has always been too quick. He is now slowing down and will have to take some hits. He is after all our best player in the big games. I thought Raph was amongst our best on the weekend. He is one of the few who created space in close clinches. Each to their own opinion but Raph played a good game on the weekend IMO. The turnaround achieved by the former admin was extraordinarily successful both on and off the field.

That is the big picture … not the trimmings/best practices that are now possible to put in place because the former admin stabilised our club.

Nonsense. It takes at least 2-3 games + for 99% of players to get back to their peak including Roo. To play all season requires a player to play 25 games to win the premierhip. Does an extra 3 trial games really make that much difference if players play in the NAB cup? MSG’s team is probably spot ...

Re: AFL Inflation.

Adding another team is a form of inflation tax imposed on all clubs and supporters. Just like the bankers create dollars out of thin air, the AFL wants to create a new team out of thin air which devalues the existing teams. For a very long time we were 1 in 12, soon we could be 1 in 20. 16 teams is...
