Re: Paddy Extends contract

I still reckon try him a swing player for a while. As a back he will get a better understanding of how the ball comes in and hopefully teach him how defender attack the ball and the forwards thus teaching him how to defend himself. Plus he is a better field kick than goal kicker so I think it would ...

Re: Paddy Extends contract

Have to say, I really don't understand some of you "supporters". You almost fall over each other with the negative comments in that hope that one day you can say "I told you so" to prove you have an ounce of real football knowledge. I get it that every MEMBER has the right to an...

Re: Paddy Extends contract

1/ Only a fool would rely on loyalty alone. Though if you want to strengthen any loyalty bond you do so committing up front rather than by sitting back and waiting. 2/ One way or another, mid-year next year will be too late. Definitely wouldn't rely on loyalty alone but if a reasonable offer is mad...

Re: Paddy Extends contract

Good signing by the Saints, back the young fella in! Regardless of his issues to date do you think he could not get a two year deal at another club? We punted two years on Freeman who is yet to play a senior match. I don't think Paddy will live up to the #1 hype, and he should never have been the #...

Yes, but he did an ankle in round 18 last year and didn't return. Time for him to step up.

Re: Ben Long?

This damn kid has played 4 games. He has transitioned from the NT as an indigenous kid and been on an AFL list for 1 year. I think its a great achievement he played senior footy at all and he showed enough. He is definately not out of his depth. The negativity coming from some posters surrounding h...

Re: Ben Long?

Will probably develop into a poor man's Lonie, another case of inept recruiting Firstly Lonie is a poor man's Sinclair so Long is a poor mans poor man which is pretty harsh. Secondly what do you base that comment on. Long is a tackling machine at lower levels and will continue that once his body al...

Re: Freeman WILL debut this year!

Last chance saloon for him this year. Too long to be in the system without getting a game regardless of the reasons why. He did well last year in the time trials from memory as well which is good so no more reasons why he shouldn't be a start relating to hammy's, it should now be is he good enough. ...

way too early to judge, Most articles now are just fluff pieces saying everyone is back and wanting to play etc. I know nothing of his off season and conditioning and how he is going now. As long as there are no dwarf lighting stories I will be happy

Re: Off-Season Player Review: #29 Jimmy Webster

Was very high up in the b&f before some clown broke his arm. Hard as a cats head. He will play as a defender and his role will be a pivotal part of our game plan and hopefully our success. Agree. He is a defender and he will be a fine one. He will be working on his kicks under pressure and shou...

Re: Rebuild Boom or Bust

It's not a bad thing. It's a matter of where you want to use your resources. He's potentially such an elite midfielder, by which I mean elite. Good small forwards are easier to find. I think either position has pros and cons and he will be great at both. Personally I think he's better suited as a s...

Re: Rebuild Boom or Bust

when did being a small forward become such a bad thing? I would love one of our smaller players to own being a small forward and not want to play in the mids. Practice more on crumbing the ball, snapping goals working out where to stand to get best shot at spoils etc. rather than increasing the tank...

Re: Rebuild Boom or Bust

Broken record here but if one of our guys can become a good outside mid this year then we are in business. Backline is now set. By that I mean we have depth in place and players will now be fighting for positions. Still not sure why we drafted 3-4 backs (depending on your view on Hunter Clark) Forwa...

Re: Rebuild Boom or Bust

Doom and gloom. :roll:Well, apart from one or two positives. I thought it was pretty balanced with heaps of positives that offset the negatives :?: Skunk to get better and be our best goal kicker again and by a long way. that is positive I like Brown and he is doing exactly what we need from him wh...

Re: Rebuild Boom or Bust

As long as I see some genuine improvement this year I will be happy. But with only Jack Steven as an outside mid at present I think we will struggle again. I expect a huge year from Skunk with Roo no longer there. I think he will get more of the ball now and kick a lot more goals as he is one of the...
