Throw in 57 as well for good measure and that might happen.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

Channel 10 reporting 7&8 are in play with GCS. What’s the bet Ameet lands 2,21 and another 2nd rounder (they have heaps yea?) Based on points, we would actually have to throw in pick 57(?) just to equal 2&21. While I would love a second 2nd rounder thrown in, we might have to settle for 2&a...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

I wonder what Jono O'Rourke is thinking now after choosing the Hawks over us? I'd grab him for a third or fourth rounder if Hawks don't want him, thoughts? Surely a former pick 2 would be worth the risk for a 3rd or 4th rounder? We do need midfielders. I was thinking the same thing. But is our long...

Re: Saints a chance for pick 2 and 21

This is what I have been suggesting since I heard the Weller news. I would like to do it.
Take best available at 2, and hope someone great slides out of the first round. Like Balta, Bonar or someone exciting like Petruccelle.
Or make a last minute play for Haynes or Tomlinson again.

Re: Lachie Weller requests trade for family reunion.

I think this is he perfect opportunity to move up the draft order. Swap 7&8 for gc’s 2&21, so they can use either 7 or 8 on Weller. We have Pick 7 = 1644 points Pick 8 = 1551 points Total = 3195 points Gold Coast has Pick 2 = 2517 points Pick 21 = 878 points Total 3395 points We get dudded ...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

Ok will give you an update. Haynes wants to come to us. Tomlinson on the fence between staying or going and choosing Collingwood or us. We are interested in Devon Smith and pitched to him last week, and would be happy to take him if Bombers can't do a deal. Clearly we are reluctant to give up picks...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. I assume we get something back. they havent got much else to give back. they dont have a second round pick. they wouldnt give a future first, we wouldnt want a future second. maybe a pl...

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)

Yes the the strategy after having missed out on a genuine Big Fish mid like Kelly now seems to be: - to keep our first two picks for best available mids, - while shoring up our height in the backline through trades and/or late use of picks/rookie pick. - to try and trade off a player or two if the ...

You can read more about Austin on the Port board at BF Most rate him highly however the broken foot/leg that happened in the last game in 2016 meant he did not do a pre-season this year and obviously struggled to get back up to speed Given his age, height and weight demographics he is a juicy key d...

Re: Saints were involved in one of the worst trades in histo

Has someone explained to King that we effectively got Carlisle AND Gresham for pick 5? Or does that still not register in the 4 neurons he possesses in that nest of vipers he calls a brain? We actually gave up both 5 and 24 in the deal. Both first and second round picks to get Carlisle and pick 14,...

Also think it is a bit stiff that our captain doesn’t get a gig in 12 months. Not even as an emergency.

considering our to top picks for a discard defender ? crazy No. Picking him up off the delisted FA list. He would come to us for nothing but the wages we would pay him. And at this point, it wouldn’t be all that much. I see it as a good way to go. KPD depth, and costs nothing to our trade and draft...

Savage got a 2 year contact. Lonie got 1.
I'm not unhappy with this.
Just want to make sure Lonie uses this chance. And I hope the saints can make a firm decision on his playing future in 12 months. Breakout or get out.

Not going to lie, i really wanted Balic during the 2015 draft. I remember watching the picks in the 30's hoping he would slip through to ours. freo picked him up 2 picks beforehand, then we got brandon white with 40. i'm not sure if he would be what we need in the squad these days, but i would give ...

In all seriousness here, are we worth looking at Kurt Tippett. I personally am in 2 minds about it. Now, before everyone goes and says his pay packet is not worth it, Travis Cloke showed last year that some players are willing to take a pay cut to leave a club to try to get some more games. And whil...

Heard the Saints are looking to gain pick 2 or 3 in draft if forced into position of drafting. They have spotted someone they're desperate to get in the draft. Tipping the recruiting team will make the best choice available to them if we go to the draft with high draft picks anyway. Past 5 years th...

I have been thinking about the Tom Boyd trade a few years ago. At the time, it seemed like an impossible trade. The dogs wanted something badly enough, that they gave up their #6 pick and their captain, even though the giants were adement they were not going to let Boyd go. Boyd was even contracted ...

Speculation is still around about Josh Schache, and wether he will return to Victoria despite signing a contract extension for 2 more years in July. Richmond is said to be interested. Makes sense. Melbourne had a lot more invested in getting him right to play, and they cut him loose. This speaks volumes.

Am I the only one who thinks he could be more a Robbie Grey style player, with a touch of Cyril Rioli flair. Dominant small forward with the flair in the midfield in spurts. From memory Robbie started well in the forward line, and everyone wanted him to move to the middle, but never really aced it. ...
