Re: SEN listeners don’t rate us 📻

From 2017 - 9 wins to 2018 - 15 wins, Collingwood’s list changed very little.

Apart from Lachlan Keeffe who went in to GWS to be moderately successful, they delisted and retired a handful of no names.

Just shows how fickle? It can be?

Collingwood - Premiers Number of wins. 2014 - 11 2015 - 10 2016 - 9 2017 - 9 2018 - 15 2019 - 15 2020 - 9 2021 - 6 2022 - 16 2023 - 18 Not sure I believe that there is a systemic mediocrity thing that applies to all teams. For teams like Nth, StKilda and the Bulldogs, there are unique challenges tho...

Re: SEN listeners don’t rate us 📻

I do agree we were lucky to make finals in '23. We peaked in that narrow loss to Collingwood and by mid-May, after the Adelaide debacle, we were on the slide. However, we seemed to hang on and hang on thanks partly to other results and having a crack. I think we might be better next year if injurie...

Re: Will these players be better.....

In all, that makes 18 new players who will form the nucleus of what should be a team capable of challenging for a flag in the next decade. While I like you post, I would hope it is THIS decade as next year is only 2024. Though perhaps you mean 2024-2033. When people say, 'in the next decade', do th...

Re: SEN listeners don’t rate us 📻

I turn off when most of the numpties and nuff nuffs call in, plus it's difficult to listen live to SEN these days for more than 1 or 2 ad breaks. The ads drive me nuts. I think during some of the high ratings periods they do 20 minutes or more per hour I like their podcasts and you can go straight ...

Re: SEN listeners don’t rate us 📻

The only one we have lost is Gresham as Billing’s played one maybe two games and Coffield none. We have recruited well with Dow and Henry and anything we get from the draftees is a bonus. Also hopefully we will have Membery and King match fit this year. Also we should get further development from O...

Re: Jack Bytel training with Collingwood

Early in Ross mk2 era, in a game poised, the ball was switched to Jack well clear on the half back line, the players ahead spread and gave him good options, regulation goal 90% probable. Jack dropped the no pressure mark, fumbled the ground ball, chance gone, Jack card noted. It was a poor effort i...

Re: Is Jack Sinclair a ‘First-choice midfielder’?

Reports Wu of The Age (May ‘23) - and remember our midfield seems to be wanting- “He could easily run around and be one of the premier midfielders in the competition,” McGlynn said. “You see what he’s doing off half-back, he can implement that in the midfield because of his poise, how composed he is...

Re: Jack Bytel training with Collingwood

We had similar (established) types Ross - dual B&F Steele - dual B&F Crouch - B&F (Crows) They are all good AFL players Collingwood have probably 1 similar type Mitchell DeGoey is a power mid/fwd Daicos is a runner Mmm That’s just it isn’t it? Kinda perplexing. Ross Hunter etc., consist...

So what is the status ofJack Hayes now? Still on the list? He is still on the list but IMHO he only plays if Sharman gets injured. Father time waits for no man! Did you see Geelong’s draft record in the 2010-2022 space?
And compare that to Gold Coasts?

Different planets.

I think you can’t generalise.

Re: Jack Bytel training with Collingwood

I posted this accidentally on the Sincs I thought that with Tassie coming online that fringe players in the 23-26 age range, those who have had a run, but been delisted (Bytel, Highmore, King next year - just kidding about the last one) these players should stay in the mix and clubs should be encour...

Is Jack Sinclair a ‘First-choice midfielder’?

-a genuine starting mid? I saw Jake’s SaintsTV YouTube video where he says these draft and trade developments means that Sincs can be more of a full-time midfielder and I winced. What do you think? Am I being too precious, guarding Jack from the rigors of a full-time midfield occupation? Does he hav...

Re: Broken Sandringham promise

Media statements released when possible interest and readership is at its lowest is referred as “taking out the trash”. That was my initial thought when the club announced the Sandy “initiative”. The agreement to be forced to take a Sandy player each year didn’t sound like sound recruiting policy o...

Re: The recent shift in age demographic

Australia just won the World Cup. Youngest player was iglis the new keeper who is 28. Head is about to be thirty next month and every other player 30+ I know it’s a different sport but the message I get is have a winning mindset so Josh Hazelwood, at 32 and injury prone, is still deemed a wise choic...

Re: Broken Sandringham promise

It is a mystery to me. Wishful me thinks, maybe, our recruiting also had a bit of 'keep Sandy in mind?' I mean you can see many of those players in Sandy colours next year, perhaps for longer. But that sounds a little off too. A player like Riley Bonner. Maybe he is envisaged as a 60% sandy player. ...

Jarrod Lienert Mk II? Depth player. Very interesting to check out the Port fans’ reactions to Bonner’s delisting in Sep. https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/bonner-dumont-teakle-and-barkla-delisted.1370861/page-6 Been on their list 8 years. Slipped down the list of preferred defenders. But some f...
