Re: After a bit of thought..
Good post Spert. When we are forced to play more young guys in the team than is suitable for team balance then that has an adverse effect on final results. I cant remember us having a list of long term concurrent injuries like we have at the moment. I like to think that we will learn a lot from the...

Re: Can & when will St Kilda win a premiership?
Of course we can but it depends on our recruiting for the next 2 years. My guess is 2019. Things can change very quickly as Port Adelaide have demonstrated. I also remember when Plugger left us and people were thinking we would be an uncompetitive rabble, in 2 years we were in a Grand Final.

Re: Changes against Blues
The exception to this rule is Savage. He's had no shortage of opportunities, and shown nothing. His best game was in NZ, but his honeymoon period is well and truly over. He either doesnt want to be at St Kilda, or something else, but the difference between the youngster he was at Hawthorn, and the ...

Moorabbin Redevelopment
From the club, some very exciting news I am delighted to inform you that the State Government has today unveiled plans for an $8 million contribution to the redevelopment of Moorabbin Oval. This contribution will see a significant development of facilities at Moorabbin as Linton St is enhanced as a ...

Re: Shane Savage
I suspect his 30 possession, 3 Brownlow votes display against us in Round 20 last year might have coloured the judgement of our recruiters. He looks like the classic player who plays well in a good team as he is not rated much by the opposition. Now that he has to win his own ball and be part of a d...

Great point WW.White Winmar wrote:Let's also give some credit to Terry Dillon, our interim CEO and CFO. Deserves as much credit as Summers for working tirelessy in the background, for very few kudos.

Re: The Turnaround
The appointment of Summers I feel was the catalyst. He is a very measured sort of bloke, and we were very patient in our appointment of a coach and also CEO. Despite the constant bleating of the press about how we were a rabble, Summers kept his cool and waited for due diligence to be followed. Also...

Re: McEvoy Subbed Out of Today's Game
I think Hickey is already on the cusp of moving past McEvoy, who I always felt was cumbersome and something of a dead weight around the ground. I'm sure it will take a few years for that to be borne out statistically but I'm already pleased we've got one more than the other. And given McEvoy's infl...

Blake Acres footage
http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-04-16/acres-on-the-rise He looks like he will be a very good player for us. The things that are noticeable are his decision making and his acceleration from a contest. Its only his first game in the VFL but that form is very impressive and will no doubt debut in t...

Re: LTI rookie upgrade for Wright
With Armo out this week and Weller playing an inside mid/tagging role the last two weeks - surely he's a shoe-in? But they may go for Seb Ross as the Armo replacement so Shenton may still be a chance. I agree Doc, Seb Ross must be rewarded for very good Sandy form. Also they might delay the rookie ...

Re: Does this read familiar???
Tempting to brag and say I called this a couple of years back... except that it was I... and anyone else who looked at their list (Micky Meltdown aside, it seems  )... too easy. All those very high draft picks, and for what? No key forwards except for the ageing and always injured, ...

Re: Has Gilbert reinsured his foot?
I think it's okay for people to ask the question "did he come back too early?" No problem with supporters asking that question but maybe they should take into account that He played the first 2 rounds with an average of 83% game time and came through both games unscathed Why didn't he re-...

Re: Does this read familiar???
While Sticks Kernahan is still involved in making big decisions at Carlton they are in strife. I freely admit I do enjoy watching the old grey Malthouse meltdown on the TV during a match and then proceed to be prickly to the press afterwards. In comparison with our breath of fresh air in Richo we ar...

Shane Savage
I thought his game wasn't too bad yesterday. He got it 18 times and did turn it over a few times by blazing away and not lowering his eyes. One thing however he does offer us is a big booming kick from outside 50 that can go to a 1 on 1 contest near the goals or even threaten for a goal, much along ...

Re: The Lee Trade
Sticking my neck out I reckon Lee will be a good long term player for us and would have been very handy yesterday (if he was fit enough) as another forward option. I don't get to see the team live much but he was impressive last year against the Dockers and was running to the right spots. One thing ...

Re: Kid Gloves
Saunders looked a bit tired yesterday and he looks like one who needs careful management as he is a fierce competitor. It was a warm day in Perth at 29C and there was a fair bit of cramping happening at the end. Eli is an interesting one as he has been promoted for Louie Pierce so he will be spelled...

Re: Nathan Wright 2014
But on Wright..thought he was terrific. That great mark when we were under siege was inspiring. Takes things on, but locked his opponent down well. Nate showed a lot today, plays it very hard for young bloke and looks like he will have a very rosy future for us. He knows when to commit to the conte...

Re: Gwilt
He does lack pace off the mark, which is where Kennedy got him on a number of occasions. He is good when he gets it, and contests well but a tall mobile player will have a huge advantage over him. Mind you not only Gwilt was undersized, but at times Geary was standing Darling, so it was a valiant ef...

Re: Rhys Stanley
He was a totally different player to his last effort at Subi last year. He presented, he ran into space and he competed well at ball ups and throw ins. Richo has worked wonders in a very short space of time. He certainly wasn't overshadowed by Cox, NicNat or Hickey.

Great yarn Loris, yes it was me who missed the bus after Bangers 350th. What a great day, I remember I didn't stay too long at the Karalee as I had a 3 hour drive home but did sign the flag. Back then the Eagles were in their premiership window, so it was a great win for a great servant of our club...
