My wife was listening to the radio with an earpiece and was trying to tell me as the players ran out that Gehrig had retired. I kept telling her that she must have misheard it as speculation. She kept insisting. I told her I had looked on the website before we left and there was nothing. She kept in...

Why not set it up as a reserved blockbuster game between Collingwood and Essendon as that would attract the biggest crowd as per ANZAC day.

As footy becomes more robotic and keepings off, Frase was a breath of fresh air. Will always remember those many times when he would lead to the left out to "his" pocket, mark, stop dead, and then suddenly spring off to his right in an arc and drill a goal on that wonderful left foot. Ever...

I guess one never likes to see players who leave kick on. I always had a soft spot for players that were driven out like Matty Lappin. But there are others that still make you angry. I was so so pleased that the Swans didn't win in 96. The sight of Plugger with a traitorous Premiership would have be...

It was interesting (and a condemnation) that Kosi said that he has learnt more about rucking from Clarke than from anyone else.

Doesn't say much about Matt Rendell or whoever was teaching him the trade in the past.
But maybe supports prev posters that we should retain him as a specialist coach.

Raph has got some great skills. His main problems are fitness, confidence and decision making. A good preseason will fix his fitness. Some good coaching will improve his decision making - he tends to ignore his first option, then gets himself into trouble and winds up with a no-option panick disposa...

Admired him for over a decade now.
Always puts in.
Has played some great games.
I remenber him towelling Bucks once.
Main deficiency was he panicked when shooting at goal.

A true clubman.
And a hell of a nice bloke.

On ya Thommo !

Great piece of analysis OWTS. The stats prove that in 2006 we played a more attacking brand of football. It allowed us to blow away the lessor teams. But it had the deficiency that we got found out big time against the top teams. Lyon has recognised this deficiency. His tighter more accountable (tho...

Discraceful if they give it to someone else after we claimed previously claimed it. BUT In reality all these cosy blockbuster "arrangements" are ALL against the spirit of a fair draw / level playing field . If we are not going to play each side twice, then the draw should either - be total...

We have won 8 in a row against Richmond - our best run against them.
Today will be number 9.

Tanking is not in our vocabulary.
Pressure OFF might just mentally free us up to take some risks and play the sort of footy we have been too scared to play.

And give us hope for 2008.

No pressure today - How should we play ?

Big ground. Sunny September afternoon. No win/loss pressure. Why not mix it up a bit. Take some risks. Move the ball straight down the middle. Exploit the marking skills of our 3 key forwards. ie kick to one on one contested mark situations, rather than play "keepings off". No backward or ...

He moved down to Mt Eliza in preparation for footy retirement.
He hates commuting to Linton St.
But he would love to play in a Premiership.

I think he will weigh up the chances of this list winning a Premiership next year.
And then make his decision.

Yes I know it is our fault we were in this position.

But you would have to say that Collingwood as
WEAK AS PISS

And you can always rely on Rocca to miss a pressure shot.

Hope they get thoroughly de-pansed next week by whoever.

Something about him gives me the creeps.

Lazar the Amazer. Or Video Vidovic. He might have been a dodgy car salesman, but he was the key to our run of wins in 97. He held his own in the ruck against anyone. Allowed Spider to push forward and kick goals. And he had that touch of mongrel about him. We hadn't had a big-man enforcer since Big ...

The board would never get invovled with players of their standard. Maybe a rooy because he is the face of the club but for say a Sam Fisher no and he is better than those to IMO. At least the Collingwood game is first so we will know.

Imagine the empty feeling if our game was first.
Then if we beat Richmond you would walk away not knowing if you should be happy or sad.
Just a hollow feeling of not knowing.
