Wake up call required (play 3 debutants)

Something drastic needs to happen this week to wake us up from this bloody slumber and kick-start our season. Don’t care who gets dropped, it’s time to inject some youth and enthusiasm into the team and blood the kids. Play three debutants all at once - Ben McEvoy, Jack Steven and Jarryd Allen a...

Huge dilemma this week in the ruck. Assuming Gardiner is no chance, I'd resist the temptation to rush Rix into the team and go with a more mobile ruck division. We've gotto do something different against Lade and Brogan and exploit them with pace around the ground. Blake to ruck against Brogan at al...

I too thought McEvoy would be a work in progress this year, but he seems to be progressing quicker than expected at Casey. Hutchison (coach at Casey) is quoted in the paper today saying McEvoy was "outstanding" on the weekend. Could be worth a punt soon, although not this week against Lade...

Here's my ideas for the game; We start with G Train looking really mean screaming "I'm baaack!" The whole team then points to Geelong and says "I see dead people". The first time an ump gives a free kick against us, our player starts asking "You talkin to me? You talkin to ...

Love waiting for these big odds games. $5 (U39.5) or $4.20 (Win) in a two horse race is the only time to get on when it comes to footy betting. Only need the Cats to be 5% off their game and we're a huge chance. Imagine if 5,000 Saints members/supporters each put $100 on we'd clean a lazy $2.5 milli...

So what happens if the Saints beat Geelong. Will he write the complete opposite? A very reactionary article. One loss doesn't make a season. Sure they were crap, but the Bullfrogs will cop a bealting sometime soon. What will he write then? What else can he write if we happen to beat the shortest pr...

Bottom line Doggies gave us a right royal whipping. End of story. All this negative talk in the media might just be the reality check the team (and some individuals) need going into a real dog fight against Geelong. Can you imagine the hype and bullsh#$ the media would have been going on about had w...

Very excited about BJ's return. BUT am not expecting big things for the majority of this year. It took Lenny many weeks to get back to anywhere near his best following his reco. Biggest benefit to the team will be his field kicking and penetration from half back. Apart from Chips, we just don't have...

Honestly believe King and Gardner are the keys to us going deep into September. With about 4-5 games under their belt each (incl pre season) just watch their improvement in the coming weeks. Went to a training session pre season last year (prior to 2007 season) and I've never seen a bloke of Gardi's...

To be honest I'm a little shocked that so many of you prefer Lenny over Roo as skipper. Don't get me wrong I'm one of Lenny's biggest fans, but Roo is clearly our best player and without doubt the most important cog in the team. IMO he had to be made captain. Hopefully this yearly discussion on cap...

My favourite is a t-shirt (not signed) with a caricature of Plugger on the front with the headline "Pluggers ton in 91". On the back is every game with the number of goals he kicked. A bit like the t-shirts you get at concerts with the tour dates on the back. Still wear it out on special o...

what was the best game you saw lockett play for st kilda? my personal favourite was against carlton at moorabbin the day he kicked 10 on silvagni and won it for us with virtually the last kick of the day. another one that stands out in the memory was a match against hawthorn at the mcg in the late ...

I was at that game with a bunch of Saints fans on the old SCG hill. The place went nuts. Will go down in my Top 5 greatest ever Saints games. Without doubt Plugger is the best player I've seen. He had absolutely every skill in the book. I used to got to training just to watch him. Because of his siz...

That package is a disgrace! I work in the industry and we need to be paying $100K plus to get someone half decent. Footy clubs are a joke when it comes to salary (and they bleed you for everything). I'm extremely disappointed in Westaway and the new board as this was one of his beefs with Rocket and...

Seriously, we got him for nothing! Our current ruck stocks are pathetic. At least King will give us a contest at the first bounce. IMO King is an awesome pick-up until we can develop a younger option (Van Rheenan, ?). The happiest St Kilda people today will be Dal Santo, Ball, Banger, Joey and Lenny...

Re: The Pain!

Reading the newspapers, watching TV, listening to the radio really hurts now that we are not in Finals. A reminder of what could have been. All we hear is how great Team (1-8) is, how good are the players etc. All Australian, Rising Star, Brownlow Medal, everywhere Geelong, Geelong, Geelong. No ment...

From memory Garruba spent some time on the Swans rookie list. He was OK yesterday, kicked a couple of goals and moved pretty well, but certainly didn't look a standout IMO. Frankly, I was a bit disappointed with the form of the Scorps yesterday, particularly the Saint listed players. Mini was quiet...

Gut feel says Crows. They just get up for these huge games. Riccuito will do something spectacular. However, if the Pies do happen to get up (fingers crossed!) we WILL pump the Tigers. Smart money for Crows

Was keen to see the odds for the Pies v Crows game to get an indication of who was favourite.

H/Sun this morning had $1.85 equal favourites. However, just checked TAB Sportsbet and the Crows have been thumped into $1.68 with Pies out to 2.05. Not a good sign if you're a betting man.
