Re: Let's Start with New Coaches

BM - You make a great point. The points you make are real, but I don't understand. How can we go backwards so quickly? In another post, I've talked about fitness, but is it more player development? A couple of years ago, we were calling King Winx. After the game against Geelong, after fumbling in th...

We're not Fit

Tonight proved it yet again. Fade outs after half way through the second quarter against Richmond, third quarter against Geelong, 15 minutes into the first against the Bulldogs, and Port. Sandringham in two or three games going to sleep after half time. A sustained burst of brilliance against the Ea...

Re: Changes for this week

You can't put Coffield back in, after his dismal showing in the VFL. I love the kid, but after less than 10 possessions - seriously???

No Carlisle either. Too slow. Geary for Marshall - leave the rest as is. Give Highmore another go.

Re: King signs until 2026

While this is good news, I am sick and tired of the Max King doubters on this forum. Yes, he can't kick straight. Yes he misses too many marks. But one and a half pre seasons built into him so far, and still a young kid. Quite simply, on his rate of progress (between last year, and this year), this ...

Cazaly to South Melbourne in 1920 for nothing.

Ian Stewart for Billy Barrot.

Ratten needs to make a statement and Hill needs to be dropped. No effort means no play.

Re: Another big game bust

What is most disappointing, we were well in it towards the end of the second quarter. Dunstan makes a couple of bad mistakes, and then we just gave up, and turned up our toes. Mistakes happen in a match, but rather than soldiering on, we roll up and die. 50 plus years of this s***, and nothing ever ...

Re: Ratts v Richo

It was under Lyon in 2008 ans we were underperforming as a Football Club. He dropped Dal Santo and Milne, and from there, the side never looked back. I don't agree with dropping six players, but Ratten needs to make a point - at the very least, drop Hill. At the moment its all about attitude, and i...

Re: I’m done

I’m not done, but I’m disgusted. I really thought we were a top 4 side, but now, I doubt if we could get over the Roos. The lack of pressure has been really disappointing. 55 years a supporter, and we dish up this? Hell, this is just atrocious - too slow, too small, and not interested. And then you ...

Re: Too short and too weak

I hope that it was a bit of both. We were undersized, yes, but after the GWS game, we looked incredibly flat. Too easy to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but we need Marshall, and Ryder back in the team. Crouch will help, but if you have two rucks like Hunter, and McKernan, you are up against...

Forgive me for a simple question. How long was the time trial? Matters a lot between sprinters, middle distance, and long distance runners.

The Ben Long Appeal

From the outset I have no idea what will happen.
But what I like is we're the Club is having a go. and defending one of our players.
Never happened with the draw against Fremantle.
Never happened defending Stevie Baker.
Says all about our Club.
I like it!!!

Glad he was moved along - disgusting individual who ended up stuffing Hawthorn as well. Don't care how talented somebody is or was, he was a bogun that was involved in a nasty dirty situation. Now, how come we have not been involved in any Covid Breaches this year - unlike most other clubs? Answer -...

Re: Take the asterisk off

No it won't. The hardest ever Premiership to win. Shorter quarters, playing anywhere but Melbourne, and the best games are brilliant. Too many night games for my liking (the day games show the skill), but the desperation, and will to win shown with a greasy ball at night??? Only the best sides win. ...

The Differen ce Between Home and Away and Finals

Tonight, I saw a no name team of desperadoes beat a star studded team. I've seen Geelong fluff chance after chance of Grand Final success since 2011. and at this stage, this year is no different. The lessons should be learned at St.Kilda - don't recruit absolute stars, or prodigal sons - recruit pla...

Chook 23. You are right. I am wrong. 18 plus points difference would make it damn close.

Re: How do we Miss out on the Eight

I'm giving the Bulldogs over the last two games (though for them, might be problematical). Collingwood should beat Gold Coast, and put them in th eight. Then we have St.Kilda 9 7 111.4% Melbourne 8 8 106.2% GWS 8 8 100.6% If I have it right, Melbourne need to win by 40 points next week. We need to ...

I'd play him. Inside work will release Jones, Steele, etc. Unlike Ross, you're not likely to hear 'an up and under kick'.

Free up Billings, and the like, and Hanners will make an incredible difference.

Re: How do we Miss out on the Eight

I base my optimism on facts, unlike Johnnearjames (or Parky Sainter or anybody else he calls himself). I'm an optimist, but a realist at the same time. I think we'll beat the Giants, but at worst, they might get over us by a goal or two. We need to work out our forward line. The first full pre seaso...

He got most of his posessions in the first quarter. Some very poor disposals after that. Hill might not get the ball as much, but he will get us a lot further.

Why I Believe

And it's not easy. I'm 58 and I don't remember 1966, some memories of 1971, was at the game in 1997 and cried in 2009/2010. After the Richmond game in 2017 (we led by close to 15 goals at half time), then lost to Essendon the following week by 10 goals. I thought this year was different. Richmond an...

Re: Football is Unrecognisable

Not getting sucked in by Secret Kiel at all. I don't regard this as an asterisk premiership. But I want a game that is high scoring, and one on one - not the roving mauls we see every game just about. If (and I'm not talking about St.Kilda) you prefer the packs and the four defenders against a full ...
