Re: Our draft hand
Trading Skunk would be terrible for culture... it'd be like trading out Dal Santo or Goddard

He's a few years away but we'd be seeking the next Luke Breust from him: that's his upside. Downside is Charlie Gardiner.

Max was rarely beaten Played for 13 seasons Played 1.5 seasons with Penny Played 3 seasons with Goose (injured in 06) Played as an undersized FB for most years he played, and was rarely beaten I remember Max being livid once when a team mate made a mistake and it resulted in Max'es direct opponent ...

until the end of the season now. The younger players like Bytel, Byrnes, Connolly, Sharman, Higgins and King, would learn a lot from playing with the old pros. If we serve up what we served up against Carlton last night against disciplined well-drilled sides with proven systems like the Swans and G...

Re: Our draft hand
Genuinely think we have a bit of tradable currency as well. As in who? We are also weakened in that we have a 2 FA s and RFA. All of whom if they go could result in us getting not much in return. There is a lot of hype on Billing gaining an extra first rounder for us if he walks, but I just cannot ...

Re: Why did we rush back Hunter Clark?
If he has rebroken his jaw with that little contact, there is no way he was ready to return. His jaw got smashed to pieces in the McKay hit and obviously hasnt had sufficient time to heal. This club has such a shyte record of sending players out who are just not ready! That on top of the amount of ...

Re: Has Dan's recruitment cost the Saints their premiership window
Still think it was a good recruiting decision? No offence mate but why? I actually continue to regard it as a risk worth taking. a/ in our position at the time, we had to pay overs for a credentialed player - and he is a highly credentialed player b/ j ury remains out. He may end up playing 30 more...

Re: Ben Long forward
Long played his first 30 games as a forward for a return of 21.15 while averaging 10.3 disposals, 0.3 goal assists and 2.9 tackles per game. He also gave away 29 free kicks. Do we need to return to this? No, absolutely not. I'd expect his tackle count would be better; the free kicks is a disaster; ...

All we need is a CHF right now. And Coffield and Long to regain 2020 form. Marshall and Jones to heal (no pun). Clark King Ross Billings Mystery CHF Membrey Mc Kenzie Steele Hill Coffield Battle Sinclair Wilkie Howard Joyce Foll: Ryder Jones Crouch Int/Em: Byrnes, Bytel, Marshall, Long, Geary Geez....

Re: Ben Long forward
"He has more ability to create opportunities for others and stick his tackles in the forward line AND kick straight for goal than a couple of others who are getting games" I really agree with this. And he's physically brutal. He's not Flying Ryan maybe, but he's one of the few Saints who c...

Re: Ben Long forward
Was no good up forward in the past, don't see why anything is different now. I say just go with 2 small forwards and rotate mids through He could have a blinder and do what Cyril was doing with 10 meaningful possessions and you'd still call him no good!! He has more ability to create opportunities ...

Re: Ben Long forward
I agree about the 2 smalls (hopefully, when in form, Butler and Higgins)... I remember Ben Long as being unpredictable and flighty as a forward. He can certainly kick the ball and I'm just thinking he may create some fear and havoc with his physicality and his ability to jump. He don't have a flyer ...

Re: What role does Ratts have in deterring the list?
Why does the club get players who have retired and delisted by other clubs? They believe they can see something that other clubs cannot, and they mistakenly think their coaches can magically extract the best from a player. You know which ones I mean. I don't read too much into that. They're cheap b...

Ben Long forward
You all will criticize this mercilessly, and the time is not now until he shows some form in the twos, but give it some thought: He's lost his spot at half-back to Sinclair He's been deplorable this year, panicky at times He can kick goals We can't afford to carry 3 small forwards due to lack of mid...

Next to Buckets, he is pbly my favourite. Was definitely the first superstar I fell in love with. First Saints jumper had a number 7 on it I’ve just had this memory pop into my head. Went to a Saints game in the late 90s... I think it was either 98 or 99 and it was against Carlton. Think it was at ...

OUT: Ryder, Long, Carlisle, Kent IN: Bytel (to replace Clark in mid, as Clark goes back), Battle (for Carlisle), J. Marsh (For Marshall's forward role), Philips for Kent I know a Semi is no time to be playing around, but trying to replace them like-for-like gets us Abbott, Battle, Savage, Hind.... (...
