Re: Seb Ross Vs Dan Hannebery
Depending on how 2021 pans out, I reckon there's a better than even money bet Ross will trigger his free agency & leave, particularly if Bytel leap frogs him.

Re: James Frawley a Saint
Frawley will play more senior footy than people think.
There will be times when we need 3 tall defenders, plus in certain matchups, we'll need a defender with body strength to play on guys like Hawkins, Lynch, Danaher, etc.

The Ben King to St. Kilda will happen but not until the 2023 season.
Just a gut feeling, reckon Ben will honour his contract with Gold Coast.
On the plus side, he'll be approaching the peak of his powers...look out!

Re: I believe the delisting of Savage is a mistake.
At 29 years old he still has at least 2 years left in him at the top level. We are now in the premiership window so a player like Sav could be very valuable. I can see why they did what the did but I would have rather they paid out McKenzie and kept Sav. Agree that McKenzie should go but unfortunat...

Re: Saints unlikely to redraft Paddy
Unfortunately for Paddy, the first head knock he gets will likely be the end of his career. I'm glad we're not going to pick him up, certainly not for his football ability but the heart would be in our collective mouths every time he went up for a mark in a pack situation. I really fear for his long...

Re: Rowan Marshall
We just recruited Frawley to play as Key Back on some opposition Key Forwards, the Gorillas as they have been nicknamed. Frawley is 193cm. 193cm seems to come in many different sizes when you read all the comments on forums and in the press. Frawley is a lock down defender, with strength and ...

Re: Rowan Marshall
Rohan has natural forward instincts and is an untapped talent but needs to hit the scoreboard more often.
He, King, and Membrey from a terrific trio add Billings, Butler, Gresham/Higgins, you have a very potent and diverse forward 50 set up.

Re: News - Seeing it differently: Inside the Saints’ draft plans
#21 - Caleb Poulter - a fantastic SA lad finished with avgs of 24 possessions, 6 marks 1.2 goals - quite nice for a tall mid / forward or if he's on the board Stuart boy - Tommy Powell - crafty mid avgs of 35 disposals, 9 clearances, 6 inside 50's could be gold. If we want a KPF/D Nick Cox at 199 c...

Re: Who are we likely to draft rookie and primary lists
I don't mind what Matty Parker brings but have a big concern with his consistency. He showed a bit in his first year but tended to fade badly in the second half of games, not sure if that's fitness, concentration, or both. Unfortunately, he had an interrupted pre season with an injury, then covid hi...

Re: New Saint Marches into his Dream Club
Good get. Great trading last couple of years. 21 years old and 50 games in a premiership side....big tank and a willingness to work and work on his game. A Saint at heart and enthusiasm that overflows from him. Will be a fan favourite...can't wait for his first goal celebration Couldn't have put it...

Re: Dearth of talls
PLAN = To every draft/trade period make us better This year's period is not yet finished but already our Best 22 has improved, after markedly being improved last year as well. Not everything can be addressed in a season. During this season it was pretty clear that despite Steele becoming AA that ou...

Dearth of talls
Like most St. Kilda supporters, I am very proud and supportive of what our off field team has done and achieved. HOWEVER, I do have a concern about our sudden dearth of talls, which has been mostly self inflicted. Yes, Nathan Brown retiring is partly outside our control, however, Bell, Marsh, Abbot,...

Re: Pick 21
Jake Bowey (would have to change that name to Jack to fit in) is the same size as Lonie. Shorter by 4cm than Gresham and Hill and 10kg lighter. I reckon we've got enough small players, Gresham and Higgins will alternate mid/ forward...Bowie too small & not physically strong enough, as is Lonie.

Re: Pick 21
I'd be very happy if we got either Brayden Cook or Caleb Poulter with our first pick.
Both are a good size and play forward/ mid with a bit of flair.
One or both may still be available for our pick, if not, Tom Powell is a ball magnet that might be a good fit.

Re: Recruiting haul via trades
Another year, another successful trade bounty. Well done to our list management team...bringing in 2 guys that can really help our midfield is great. Make no mistake, Jack Higgins will be a terrific mid/ forward, whatever number he has, saints young fans will have it on their backs! He is an excitin...

Re: Chips Frawley
Strange decision to me. Must mean that Roberton will be paid out to make cap space. Sad. I like him. Also means that Howard was very very important. At the very least to lower Carlisle's cost. Roberton is more of a tall flanker/ 3rd tall type, not a key defender so likely to be still listed next ye...

Re: Chips Frawley
I think there’s more to this than the obvious. Soft cap spending has been slashed for next year All clubs have been forced to reduce their support staff accordingly. How do you get an extra assistant? Put him on your playing list Roughead and Rath would know Frawley well Maybe he’s going to be the ...

Re: Chips Frawley
The reason for the interest in Frawley is that he can play on the power forwards.
He has pace and strength, unlike Carlisle, and look at how Howard struggled against Tom Lynch.
Frawley would play more games than people think!!

Re: Quinton Narkle
Young Narkle is currently starved for opportunities at Geelong, unlikely to change as if a player is under 30 doesn't get a look in it seems! He would be handy for us as a forward/ mid, speedy and skillful, giving us another string to our midfield. There is a possibility he might be a delisted free ...

The reality is that even if Lonie stays he will be behind Butler, Gresham, Higgins & Kent in the pecking order, not a great situation for the young man.
Wish him well whatever the outcome, as he's been a handy player over the journey.

Re: I'm in shock
Seb Ross is a handy player in an ordinary team. It sounds like we are trying to develop a more flexible midfield group so Seb may miss out, as he has slipped to 4th to 5th best mid, depending on how Hunter Clarke comes on next year. If we happen to snare Treloar, his position is worse as we would no...

Re: McKernan
The best way to describe Shaun McKernan is an enigma.
At his best, he can be unbelievable, trouble is, his worst is really poor.
Having said that, given he is a delisted free agent, a good fit for us and likely to get several senior games due to big Paddy needing to be nursed a fair bit.
