Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment
Webster was apparently an unruly kid who had a reputation for settling his arguments with fisticuffs, but Richo managed to channel that aggressive energy in a positive way, that benefitted both Jimmy and the team. So. I'm sure Harvey, Hayes, Lyon, etc... will smooth any lingering rough edges or dis...

Re: Something Personal
Born in 1962. Too young in 65 Dad wouldn’t take me in 66 Went in 71, 97, 2009, & twice in 2010 The only time I recall actually thinking we are going to win this was 2010 when Goddard marked and kicked truly. I knew we were f***ed in 09 at half time due to wayward goal kicking. My dad never saw a...

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment
Is it possible it is not punishment and just part of a fitness block for a first year draftee who perhaps did not arrive with a tank ready for an AFL pre-season?

Training Reports
Hi guys, I’m either OS or interstate until early April so no chance of seeing any training.
I really enjoy the training comments by saint Mike, BM and others and eagerly await the next installment.
Thanking you in advance

Re: Simon Lethlean finished at St. Kilda effective immediately?
Lethlean was in the recruiting department- list management? I did not know that?? His own comments in the link below, show he was right in the mix of the Hannebery debacle if not the instigator. He also defended the clubs decision very strongly (as anyone would) early days when Damien Barrett criti...

Re: Sons of Guns
Here’s a question. How many times since 2001 have premiership teams not had any father sons? Depends on if you mean on the list or playing, but it's perhaps not as uncommon as you might think. Geelong 2022 Melbourne 2021 Richmond 2020 Richmond 2019 West Coast 2018 Richmond 2017 All did not have any...

Elwood Peckett and Boston Everitt at training this week Hope I am 100% wrong, but I don't see either of them making it. Big hopes on the Reiwoldt & Hayes boys 8-) Barry Hall has 3 boys but played what 90 games with us? Hope Josh Bruce's son isn't a gun with his 99 matches. I wanted us to list D...

Re: DFC
Very hard to form an opinion without knowledge of the DFC structure and the arrangement between club, landlord, service providers etc but it’s a forum so I’ll have a crack from NFP experience. On a broad assumption that the DFC is a NFP it seems normal that the club will have arrangements in place f...

He’s always had a huge engine Up until they started the yo-yo about 6-7 years ago he jointly held the draft combine beep test record. 16-6 I believe it was David Spriggs he held the record with I think Josh Kelly and Isaac Smith also we’re around that mark Hill was either injured or taking the piss...

Re: Umpires perception
I certainly think that LBW decisions far and away favour the bowlers now. But everything else is now in favour of the bat with new equipment, shorter grounds and it is extremely rare to get a dodgy pitch. In the older eras the unwritten rule of benefit of the doubt to the batsman (not batter) has ch...

I think you are doing a bang up job Skeptic. I never knocked BFUSA as he was undertaking the site administration and moderating as best he could, sometimes under trying circumstances, however I feel your common sense approach has really enhanced the forum. I hope that old posters may return and SS o...

Re: Windhager at HB
Agree totally with OP. Windhager looks a disciplined gun run with mid who also wins his own ball while frustrating the opposition guns. At this point in time he lacks the flair of a Sinclair or NWM who set up off half back. Wondering if RTB will go with Steele, Crouch and Ross again this year. All 3...

Re: Liam Stocker: Where’s he at?
Elite runners in the AFL are sub 10 3K and a sub 6 2K We are not talking elite athletics here… we are talking AFL midfielders - who lug 80-90kg frames around and need to possess speed and power also - not just be aerobic beasts His lack of speed from stoppage and sameness to better players like Ste...

Re: Liam Stocker: Where’s he at?
Why do you think Bytel wasn’t a good runner His endurance was near elite when he was fit ran a sub 10 3k His knock was on ace from stoppage Agree he is a professional and had endurance. I very much doubt he was sub 10 in 3k, would like to see the proof, and for the record sub 10 is not elite. I rec...

Re: Liam Stocker: Where’s he at?
I like Stocker, honest, tough, decent skills. Down side is he’s a very average runner, and as Bytel found out if you can’t run to an acceptable standard you will be under pressure to retain your place at StKilda. He’s a depth player for me, I think he’s behind Webster, in front of the 2023 version o...

Backline transition work today with Wilkie and McLennan doing kick outs and setting up plays. McLennan really showing it up.

Re: Where to for Dougal Howard and what does our defence look like?
Perhaps I am biased, but I rate Howard at least the equivalent as a player as Ben “Kings Ransom” McKay.
He’s not Harris Andrew’s but he is not deserving of some of the posts aimed at him on this forum.

Regardless that is a serious feather in the cap of Darcy Wilson.
To beat Windhager home the young fella must have a tank.

Re: Jack Bytel training with Collingwood
Good chance Jack will join a select group. Former Saints players to win a premiership with another AFL club. Maybe a little premature to suggest that. Firstly he needs to be selected onto the list, then he needs to break into the team. IMO there is little possibility Bytel could play in the same te...

Re: Who replaces Gresham?
Preparation has never been an issue for Windhager.
Got to admire the lad for that.
If my name was Clark without an “e”, I’d shadow the younger man in the gym and on the training track.
Not suggesting Clark doesn’t do the work, just that Windhager is already the consummate professional.
