Re: Owens

Owens was definitely up the ground more in the 2nd half yesterday and we were using Hammer as 2nd ruck Also saw a bit more run and movement from Pou with a bit more kicking than usual Well I wouldn’t be surprised if Phillipou becomes an A-grade or better midfielder, but I reckon it’s a couple of ye...

Re: Owens

I agree that Owens ideally should be around the footy as an inside mid. I also don't think Lyon is a fool and there may be a good reason why he hasn't really played there yet. Has anyone considered the possibility that Owens doesn't yet have the tank to run through the midfield for any longer than h...

Re: Phillipou

I find the lack of news about contract signing a tad concerning…we are showing faith….playing him…coach loves him …I don’t get the hold up If I were Phillipou and his Manager, I'd wait. If he goes up a level during the season, then he gets a better contract. Phillipou does strike me as the type of ...

Re: AFL Dont have a drug issue....

No recreational drug is performance enhancing, particularly in the context of match play. So it shouldn't be any of WADA's (or whatever they're called) business. I actually think the doctors that helped their patients cover it up, acted appropriately and perfectly ethically. I also support the AFL's...

f***!!! Massive loss, there isn't a replacement. Without him it would've been a lot closer on Thursday. We may not even have won it.

Re: Phillipou

Phillipou will be a gun, I have no doubt. Our objective is to build a Premiership list. So you get him to 50 games as quick as you can by playing him. He'll learn more and quickly, playing at AFL level rather than the VFL. The same applies to Darcy Wilson. There is no skill issue, workrate issue or ...

Re: Phillipou

When re signing, if you think you've got improvement in you then you hold off. There's no bargaining power for Philippou to be signing now. String some dominating games together and demand twice as much. You have to back yourself in, and he will. That's how Freo lost Henry, something they're going ...

Re: Phillipou

His goal last night was a bit of a fluke, but it will give him a bit of encouragement. I reckon Ross is focusing on teaching him positional play and he’s in a bit of a McQualter-style negating role ATM. He’s doing ok at it: he seemed to keep his position and tried hard to pressure his opponents. Th...

Re: Another season of being of just a sh**ty football club.

Geelong will finish 9-14th So we just lost to an average team - who were +19 i50 Now we have the reigning premier licking their wounds Whether they finish 9-14th remains to be seen. At the moment at near full strength and on the back of their first full pre=season in years, geelong look as good as ...

Re: Phillipou

We're about building a Premiership List. So we need to get 50 plus games into Phillipou (and Owens, Windhager etc) as quickly as possible. There is no utility in Phillipou playing VFL.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?

DeGoey is a gun and doesn’t belt women I don't think Thomas has actually belted women. I may be wrong, but I haven't heard that he has. He threatened to upload nude pictures of an ex the first time and I haven't heard the specifics of the latest issue. Uploading private pics of someone is of course...

Well if a poster's info here is correct, that Clarkson called Jimmy (and was it Dougal?) c*cks*ckers. Whilst vulgar and inappropriate, not homophobic. Not only gay gentleman indulge in such. This was not a AFLW Game though. And how often anyway do you hear it directed at women? If as in this case, ...

Jones would be a fantastic decoy at stoppages for Steele and Wilson, who will be getting pressured near by. Marshall is also very good at killing throw ins and clearing paths in stoppage. If it comes together we will go from a defensive stance at stoppage to a very attacking and dangerous combo. Th...

Re: Will Ross Continue to Play the Kids?

Been reading a lot of posters here and on BF praise Ross for playing the kids last year in support of their argument Ross is now a proven developer of kids as part of the wider argument about his ability to rebuild a list from the ground up into a flag team. As we know he only had a win rate of 33%...

One of the toughest Saints teams I've seen. Brutal! Ditterich and Sidebottom used to run around on the ball terrorising the opposition.

Re: I would love the club to officially recognise Mike Patterson.

I don’t think the Swamp Fox needs special recognition, but I disagree that he was a dud. In 1977 under Ross Smith we won 3 and drew 2 matches. In 1978 , Patterson was coach and we won 11 and drew 1. It was a fun season. He got us playing a very very tough brand of footy - the Baby Bombers still whi...
