Re: VFL vs North
Collard a lot more involved today looking good. Heath missed an absolute shocker directly in front. Campbell dominating again. Jones every where but doesnt hurt the opposition with his possession. OConnell starting to find his niche. Blamires and Zagari good. Hunter Clark has hurt a knee again, the ...

There is no doubt he is struggling, hopefully someone stands up tomorrow so Pou can be rested for a week or two.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
A good win, but gees we are a long way from playing decent footy again.
Max Kings effort tonight was completely sub standard pathetic. His 2nd efforts are non existent and his chasing is half hearted at best. He plays like a big spoilt kid and to think he is one of our highest paid players.

Re: Match Thread: Saints vs Roos
Good first half. Still made some errors, and I hate the slow backwards to go forward movement, but I guess that is just about controlling the footy. Having Webster back has allowed Sinclair into the midfield. His clearance poise is something of beauty. Windhager had his best half of footy, what a di...

Re: Team v Roos
I like the ins and outs. If any one watched the VFL game last week, Hayes was enormous. He was clunking everything, did well in the ruck and laid some big tackles. Definitely warranted selection. He did more in that game than Sharman had done all season and that’s coming from a Sharman fan. I notic...

Re: Saints NGA article: Sam Linder
The AFL are presently looking at changing the rules, either way I doubt any get selected before pick 40. Hopefully the rules change prior, but we will still need picks or points to grab them.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Thu 02 May 2024 7:32pm I really don’t see the point of having an NGA when you don’t have priority access to high end talent.

Re: Team v Roos
Great to see the changes made. Hopefully Hayes can remind us of why he was picked up and take some pressure off King & Marshall. He is exactly the player we need to stand up. Webster is much higher rated internally than he is in the supporter base and will stiffen our defence considerably. Losin...

Re: Saints NGA article: Sam Linder
Sounds like a good kid, obviously highly rated at the Dragons being VC. Its interesting that this year we will have 3 x possible NGA's Cole, Linder & Hoffman plus FS Peckett as options. All are realistic chances which would be fantastic for the club but make list places teally tight. Could lead ...

Re: The Jimmy Situation
Some people have rated Bonner's games but I struggle to see the positives. He has no defensive game at all and plays a bruise free timid game IMO. We need an effective lockdown small defender so I think if Webster is ready he comes straight in to replace Bonner or Stocker. Bonner is a stats padder a...

Re: Players in question for 2025?
As a hypothetical lets say we trade in Ned Moyle and take 1 x player as an NGA rookie (Cole) and want to take 3 picks at the draft. That would mean delisting 5 players minimum - Matt Allison (was never going to make it) Max Heath (hasnt improved - not up to it) Tom Campbell ( good clubman and VFL pl...

Re: Trade - Draft Discussion
I was just looking at the Darcy Jones article on the AFL site, he seems to have filled out nicely in his couple of years with GWS. It will be an interesting comparison to his development against Lance Collard. Both were around the same build when drafted so hopefully Lance can make the size improvem...

Re: Durrrrrr Howard
Dougal Howard is the full back you have when you don't have a full back. But you have to play him because the team is better with him there than without him. In the past I would agree with you, but now Cordy has proven he can play the position I think he has gone past Howard. Cordy mightn't be quit...

Re: Coming back
Sharman has a lot of work to do IMO. He is not strong enough to be a serious marking option and not agile enough to hold down a flankers position. Now that Hayes is fit and playing well I would have him well ahead Cooper at this time. Hayes is a huge body and creates space and makes a contest in eve...

An interesting post Cwcyn. I dont know how Van Es 19 yo will return from his ankle concerns, but I gather the club still has hope for him. Hotton 19 yo is another I wouldnt write off just yet. Your exercise highlights our list weakness that still remains elite midfielders and other ruckman/tall forw...

What is it national AFL shaft St Kilda week - or have I missed something? For Higgins to get 3 weeks for that, Christian has lost touch with footballing reality and should be removed from the position immediately. Its almost as bad a call as half the umpiring decisions in the game. An absolutely dis...

Re: Footy Fix: Ross Lyon is the AFL's most boring coach once again - and it's suffocating the Saints' season
I tend to agree with the article ATM he is coaching to save games, rather than kick winning scores. A lot of that is treading water whilst we get senior players back from injury.
I think after we get something near a full team playing RTB will release the shackles again.

If that chump is in the best 40 defenders in Australia, then everyone that plays footy should be ashamed. He shouldn’t even be playing for Sandringham 2nds. Surely Lyon just scrubs him from the list. If you could do it you would do it yesterday. Lyon is moving the deck chairs on the titanic. Im sur...
