Re: Bonner

He completely lost his nerve after quarter time. Started ignoring team mates in space and bombing long. The pressure got to him. We knew he wasn't a physical player, but there were some timid efforts today that I think Ross Lyon will be pointing out.. it's one thing to be able to kick. It's another ...

Re: Next premiership team

If you look at players aged 27 and under we have no genuine clearance midfielders. In the next two years we need to select a couple of midfield guns or there'll be no chance of winning the big one any time soon

Re: AFL Dont have a drug issue....

Young people, middle aged people, and even older people take recreational drugs. They're everywhere and it's a reality we have to accept. The drugs that really count are the performance enhancing drugs like EPO and this is where the testing should focus the most. Most recreational drugs are not perf...

Re: Liam Henry hammy?

Phillipou is playing with a sore hip. It was noticeable as he entered the rooms after the game that he was very sore. He's been carrying it for a few weeks. Let's hope it's not going to be an issue

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today

Forwards didn't stand a chance after quarter time. Tony Lockett at his best would barely have got a kick with the absolute rabble of a midfield that played today. It would be impossible to fairly rate any forward's performance in that environment Hotton was almost completely invisible. I reckon he g...

Assuming King's suspension stands Out King, Henry, Wood In Caminiti Butler Garcia (sub) Schoenmaker is a half back and that's not what we need Crouch looked to be struggling with his knee issue In the VFL today Collard didn't touch it. Neither did Hotton, who was the invisible man in the midfield Ke...

Re: Sandringham Zebras v Collingwood today

Well, watching Sandy hasn't got any better. Just awful to watch. I didn't see the first 20 minutes, so I missed the good stuff. McLennan and Schoenmaker have been solid. Garcia playing with energy. Hotton barely getting near it. Moose looking like a lumbering 1960s ruckman. Midfield is a rabble. Jus...

Collingwood 11 shots at goal

10 of them from turnover.

It says it all.

The need for speed in our midfield

We saw last week the lack of leg speed from Crouch and we witnessed a poor game from Seb Ross. Now that Crouch has been dropped, is it possible that the need for speed could see those guys struggling to get games for the remainder of 2024? Steele is a lock. But every other midfield position is up fo...

Re: Worst possible start to the season we were all fearing...

It could be a lot worse, it could be a lot better. It's one game. There are no easy games on AFL football anymore. The competition is the most even it's ever been. Brisbane are going to be 0-2. Collingwood are 0-2. There will be wild fluctuations in fortune for most teams this year, so is getting in...

Re: Issues

For 12 years we've been cursed by an ineffective midfield lacking in class, power, and speed. That's a long time. Our two best midfielders in that period have been Jack Steven and Jack Steele. So, who have we got coming though who could be genuine, consistent, and damaging midfielders? Not one playe...

Re: Team structure was warped IMO

I think the coaches hands were tied. Crouch wasn't fit, and Seb Ross is there by default at the moment. Once Dow, Clark, and Jones are fit they come into that midfield. Would have been very different if those three had played. They are all different players from the slow, vanilla mix we watched last...

Re: Team structure was warped IMO

Crouch looked underdone. The worst game I've seen him play for us. That's what interrupted preseasons do to you Phillipou in the midfield was something I was nervous about and he played exactly as I expected. He's got a lot to learn. He is more a Brendan Goddard type, but not quite the footy smarts ...

After half time

Crouch 5 possessions

Phillipou 6 possessions

To say it's not enough is an understatement
