Re: Sharman's goal in the last Q
You need to do a bit more than kick a goal or 2 as a forward As well as hitting the scoreboard you need to Create goals for others, contest, defend, chase, present, harass etc Membrey does a lot of those things Was he doing those things 6 games in? I like Sharman, but he doesn’t look like he will e...

Re: Changes v North
Based on what I saw on the weekend, this is what I would do In Leinert, Byrnes Out Webster, NWM Byrnes has earned his crack. It will be short lived because he will be replaced by Clark after bye. Despite the big numbers, Clark just looked like he till needed another run. NWM just needs a few games t...

Re: With Captain courageous out ..will Byrnes or Bytel both will get their chance soon ..
Windhager is developing nicely and i understand the argument that he should play in Steele’s absence to fast track his development - however if we get all of Clark, Steele, Higgins back, with no new injuries, then this team can go very deep into Sept. Windy perhaps makes the team as the medi-sub. Gi...

Re: Cooper Sharman
It’s a big game for Sharman
Kicks 3 or more and probably cements a spot for the foreseeable future.
Kicks 0 and is likely out of the side next week.
Kicks 1 or 2 and is a week to week proposition
Hope they play him close to goal.

Re: Max King
Where is Kings best spot -CHF or FF ? I think Sharman’s best spot is deep, so I’d play King at CHF - but more traditional CHF roaming across the 50m arc with Membrey and Hill on the flanks playing higher. Higgins and Long in the pockets. Marshall can rest deep forward to mix it up from time to time....

He is arguably the most important player on our list together with Steele. Very hard to replace Roma who plays like an extra mid when he is in the ruck.

Re: Cooper Sharman
I was one of the many who thought we had found a genuine gun late last year. He has looked off the pace at vfl level this year. Either he isn’t getting to the right spots , or the players aren’t able to get it to him. Maybe a bit if both. I do think he is one of those players that looks better with ...

Sandy’s clash jumper Is horrible and amateurish
Looks like it was designed by a 6 year old.

Re: First Quarter
It wasn’t the umpires that lost it for us It wasn’t the venue that made us lose the game. It wasn’t the coach or the selection committee in my opinion. We simply failed to capitalise when we dominated play and …we kicked poorly with our set shots Reasons we lost firstly, Poor goal kicking conversio...

Re: A must win opportunity
Yep it’s a big game in the context of the season. We have a very tough draw post the bye. No easy games - except North maybe. WC over in the west are never easy. Essendon didn’t look too bad yesterday so by the time we get them they may actually be playing more like what most experts predicted pre s...

Re: Saints v GWS...The Mongrel Punt.
Good read. Sebby is having a great season. Most enjoyable for me is that rather than blazing away like he has in previous years, most of his kicks are now finding a target. Credit has to go the new fitness guy. Some players thrive with extra fitness and Seb looks like one of the beneficiaries His ch...

Re: A must win opportunity
Agreed this a big game - but to be fair they all seem like games atm. IF we want to play finals, I feel like we need to beat Port this week. The following 2 weeks then give us an idea of how deep into finals we might go. Melb look like they will finish top 4 Brisbane for me are the other team that a...

In: Ryder, Jones, Leinert Out Hayes, ? , Highmore I think we can get more from Highmore than Leinert Who goes out for Jones ? It’s one of WIndy and NWM I think that makes way. Wood doesnt do enough in my view but really the most like for like is Sharman - who just can’t find it at the the moment. S...

If I was Bytel, I’d look elsewhere Windhager playing in front of him… behind Steele, Crouch, Ross, Jones, Gresham, Byrnes, Owens, Windhager He’s a long way back Can’t see him getting in at this stage either. They other bit I heard was how good the club have been to him regarding the back procedure ...

Re: Karl Amon
3 years ago we had no speedy outside runners with great foot skills which is why we went after Hill and Jones. Ironically Hill now plays high HF, And Jones better suited to inside mid. NWM is still developing and building a tank that will allow him to run out a season, and DMac is so Kamikaze it’s u...

The door just creaked open for him with Hayes going down, and Wood having another quiet game.
Its now up to him to have a good game v GWS reserves.

You take him as a free agent every day as long as the $ are not unreasonable We will lose some talent off the list this year due to retirement (eg Hannebery, Geary) and it’s good to have experienced talent come in as we build up our youngsters. Covid protocols could still be in place and randomly wi...

Re: Umpiring
Heard a good solution today - give the players 2 seconds. This is enough time to wave their hands in the air on frustration , and then gather their cool. No talk back, no pointing at the big screen allowed, but a 2 second grace period to wave your arms would resolve the instinctive response

If we are a genuine finals team then we need to win this game (and next week)
Will be a tough contest.
Webster for Windhager the only change I foresee
Windhager to be the medical sub

Re: Freo player on our radar
Fits the profile type of player we have been recruiting the last few years , natural footballer and/or a good athlete, and perhaps a few cm shorter than ideal eg Hayes, Sharman, Wood, Highmore, Wilkie, Allison Hard not to back our recruitment teams recent efforts which has had more hits than misses....

Jack Steele been throwing the arms out over the last few weeks and lucky not to get pinged so far. Let’s just hope that he doesn’t get done when the game is on the line.

Re: Ins and outs v Giants
I like Leinert with the kick ins , more than any of the other defenders But I dont think he offers anything more in general play than Webster. If Webster is fit, he comes straight back in for Leinert who is unlucky to be dropped Jones in for Windy. The kid has shown a bit and getting a couple of gam...

Re: Things change.
They all look fit this year.
Some players thrive on the extra fitness and on the flip side also look terrible when they are not quite fully fit. Seb is one of those players. Coffield another.
