because he hasnt grown in height, therefore he is still small and he plays forward small forward Ha! But that's kind of what I'm saying. Infact it's exactly what I'm suggesting! He's described as a 'small forward' and everyone thinks we have a small forward in our team - purely due to his physical ...

I played footy with Michael Felgate.

A fantastic guy, and a really talented footballer. He'd kick bags.

Whenever I see him at the footy or at the track these days, he's still always keen for a chat and still a really good guy.

It is an interesting point of view. Last year when Roo went down Milne was the architect of our forward line and went from being a crumber to a multi-dimensional forward. I think in this era of football you need to be more than a crumber, just like the new sub rule breathes life into the resting ru...

The question is, with Schnieder and Steven available and in form (and both can contribute to the vital mid-field rotations at some level), do we need a third small in the forward line putting his hand in the air saying "kick it to me" whilst he is closely guarded? I think ideally though, ...

Re: Is Milney Still Really a Small Forward?

He looked like a small forward last week. He took 7 marks, had 8 Inside 50s and only 1 tackle! They're not really the type of stats that you'd associate with a traditional small, crumbing forward! He's very important, and a gun. But I think over the past few years we may have lost a small forward w...

Is Milney Still Really a Small Forward?

The young Stephen Milne was a genuine small forward. Zippy, great crumber, electric when the ball was on the ground. He was very elusive. The older Stephen Milne (ie. him now) doesn't really play the small forward role anymore. I reckon he's actually more of a medium forward these days. He's not fre...

I still don't believe leg speed is the answer. It's great to have as a tool, but in essence what you're trying to do is break lines. And in turn, prevent your opponents from breaking lines. Leg speed is one way to achieve this, but it's only 1 way. And frankly it's pretty rare that a player breaks a...

I think it probably represents a certain mindset in the media.... any Saints story must have a negative slant. 'Propaganda', as opposed to the media attaching the term 'scandal' or 'Saints school girl', etc, to the club every time it's been mentioned over the last how many months? I mean surely the...

Including the NAB Cup, St Kilda have played in four draws in their last eighteen games, not including either Geelong match. Because we set up to stop the opposition winning. Often it works. It's a big part of our success - but also a big part of our lack of success! By playing the restrictive style...

Everyone should just watch Marngrook. It ain't pure, but it has heart. Any other footy telly is simply embarrassingly s***. Roos almost rectifies On the Couch, tho. To state the bleeding obvious (though some don't seem to get it) ... As the competition expands it gets harder and harder to win a premiership. In the old days the peak of your cycle might coincide with two or three other teams who were "up". Now there could be six teams up at the same ti...

Considering we've won one in 115 years, and somehow managed to lose the last two,I'd say it's a pretty reasonable assessment considering the AFL will move heaven and earth to make sure there side wins one The first part makes no sense at all. Why would winning 1 flag in 115 years have anything to d...

I don't care what happens aslong as we finish top 8 after the entire season. I don't believe the whole only top 4 have a chance deal. You just have to be in it to win it and our boys can beat any team on their day, maybe those days are in September this year... and October....sigh  You may no...

Someone must force Dempster out. This may sound horrible and nasty, but as long as he's in the team I can't see us making the neccessary improvement. Surely there's someone on the list somewhere, that can do what he does - plus have an ounce of offense about him? And maybe have just one less rookie ...

I agree that it's a possibility. But that doesn't apply just to the Saints and to the Bulldogs. The way the AFL works pretty much means you get a few years (3-4 if you're lucky) at being a top 4 - top 2 side and being a contender. But there's no guarantee that you get a flag during this period! Rega...

I have no problem with anyone saying anything about anyone! If it has a positive effect! I still just think it's our inability to apply any offensive pressure that is killing us. Our opponents are never on their back foot. The way we play gives them way too much time to set up. They're never caught out or under pressure when we have the pill. Pretty much every team is hard to score agai...

Re: Our Problem? 13:29 remaining in the 2nd Quarter.

Too many numbers behind the ball. We tend to set up to stop opposition teams winning. It worked tonight. We need to find that balance again. Tight defence made us a force, so you don't want to can it. Just got to get that balance back. We just can't hurt anyone anymore. We pose no offensive threat.

Our Problem? 13:29 remaining in the 2nd Quarter.

Fast ball movement. Kick from defence hits the target in the midfield. Fast and direct ball movement again with a pass on Roo's tit halfway between the middle and CHF. We're on a roll. A fast break. Roo takes the mark with space all around him and looks to dish it off....... ......and there's no-one...

Question: Given the choice, would supporters/members prefer to feel loved, included and involved by the club but we finish 4-6 on the ladder, or to feel ostracised and neglected by the club and we win the flag? I don't think the club pushed members away and kept them at arm's length because they're ...
