Re: Saints Diamond Member Event

Outstanding work BFUSA and many thanks.
Feel very confident from Richo's and Finnis's words that we have the right people in place.
Hope you had time to quaff a few in-between note-taking.

A worthy bearer of guernsey No 7, through thick and thin, good times and bad.
An inspiration and example to all, both on-field and off-field.

Re: Advance Note- NAIDOC special Thus 10th - Winmar Vic Par

Liked Alan Richardson's game - composed, efficient, smart...could have a coaching future. McAdam - Brilliant, his best game? Winmar...loved those slashing runs when he lengthened his stride then rifled in a long pass. Burke - Guts personified. Dean Greig - superb. Sean Ralphsmith - Dashing, powerful...

Loving the free-flowing nature of the footy in the first quarter.
More entertaining than any game by any sides that I've seen this year.

Re: Positives from the Tigers game.

Didn't run up the white flag until last five minutes. 2nd and 3rd quarters were pretty good, showing plenty
of chase and aggression..we actually won the 3rd quarter. Lack of forward options is a killer. Slow start
didn't help.

Re: The Domino Fall

That's a pretty good metaphor tony74! Just watch the chain of events that led to the Demons' winning goal against the Bombers on Sundee. http://www.afl.com.au/video/2014-06-15/ess-v-melb-watch-the-last-two-minutes Every player had to know their role and be in the right spot at the right time. Re: We will beat Geelong

Plenty of signs that the Cats have finally dropped off the pace. If we had a slighltly better team they would be ripe for the picking, even on their home patch. The Cats last six games - - lucky 5pt win over Carlton. - thumped by Sydney by 148 to 38. - defeated North by 21 points - thumped by Freo, ...

Re: NEW Asst Coach !!

A letter in today's Sunday Age... A winning round I am the President of St Kevin's Old Boys Football Club and Peta Searle joined us this year (''Footy's first lady at ease with history'', 3/6). Her impact at the club was immediate. Within a week, she wasn't our new female coach, she was our backline...

Re: NEW Asst Coach !!

Anyone else remember that excellent British TV series, "The Manageress", with Cherie Lunghi as the woman who takes over the Manager's job at a struggling F.A. Club, and has to resist the Chairman, Board, players, supporters who all try to bring her down. All the arguments being raised here...

Fully agree with intent of OP, but don't omit Adam Schneider -

Saints 106 games, 145 goals.

Re: Welcome new members !

A few veteran posters do like to lay bear-traps for new members. If you find yourself in a circular argument over semantics, over the right to have an opinion, about whether it's OK to have a worthy defeat, over whether Grant Thomas should make a comeback, over whether Kosi's last three years were o...

Re: Differences between Watters and Richardson???

Riewoldt has not been the only tall forward option - he's the only one that actually does something with it. Stanley and Maister get the delivery but drop the pill, then are ineffective at ground level. If they held half their marks and kicked three goals a game, we'd be marveling at the Saints' 3-p...

Ditto the above - Hawthorn is the best side I've seen since Brisbane won their three flags at the start of
the century. Under Leigh Matthews Brissy was skilled, hungry, smart, relentless, and Hawthorn is just as good,
even better.
Still, 25 goals, geez.

Re: Some footy basics ignored

Basics ignored, in a sub-AFL performance... Around 20 minute mark of 1st qtr, the ball is heading to the boundary right beside the point post in Hawks' forward pocket. Dempster ASSUMES it's going over and stops chasing it, when he HAD to kill the footy over the line. Rioli (I think) zips past Dempst...
