Re: Tommy Lee

Could be our next Fraser Gehrig, as he certainly has the shape and the Clark Kent chin - but will need a few hundred weights sessions to match Fraser's pack-busting strength. Fraser was a dour defender for years at West Coast, but was re-invented by the Saints, with a safe pair of hands, a big upper...

Re: Baldock to be honoured

Great article by Tim. Snooped around the local papers and found these - http://www.theadvocate.com.au/story/2240240/lane-to-mc-unveiling-of-baldock-memorial/?cs=87 http://www.examiner.com.au/story/2239958/baldock-goal-to-be-a-reality/?cs=12 And this, on Eli's busted arm - http://www.theadvocate.com....

Re: Moorabbin 1969

Hi avid,
All I did was a google "image" search using "St Kilda Junction" as the search string and it came up with all sorts
of old pics.

Re: Whatever happens..... impressive!

My tiny mind is blown by the Saints effort tonight. All those one per centers...total turnaround from the Adelaide game. All those smothers, knock ons to advantage, kicks to run on to, and the confidence rarely wavered. Billings, for a 2nd gamer - outstanding. Rhys Stanley - best game ever. Saunders...

And more on the Junction Hotel from this site - http://www.skhs.org.au/SKHShotels/Junction%20Hotel.htm "The Junction was famous for always flying the St Kilda flag high when the St Kilda football team won and at half-mast when it lost." "The hotel was ultimately demolished in 1973 fol...

I'm only guessing, but it looks like that white tower to the far right of the full photo would be the now departed Junction Hotel,
as in this 1930's photo of St Kilda Junction...

Great stuff, Saintbrat. Amazing the amount of thought and effort that goes into beating the opposition.
Reason why the Club needs members and sponsors to pay the salaries of guys like this.

Re: Can't believe people target those who give a stuff....

Nice work 3GS and Bluthy. Very much a reality check. Looked like some very tired bodies out there, even from early in 3rd quarter. Still getting over WCE game perhaps. You could see at times the players could not muster a run to a Crows player 10 metres away. Add some poor decision-making, some ordi...

A brand new Saint making his debut...wearing Goddard's 18, but he'll make it his own. A few facts off the interwebs - 1cm taller than Tom Hickey. Named ruckman in 2011 TAC Cup "Team Of The Year". Pick 8 to Brisbane in 2011 draft. Played nine games for Brisbane. From McLeod originally, so i...

Re: 2/3 Wins & still no one rates us!

Difficult to get a grip on where this game will end up. Won't be a blowout against the Saints. Expecting it to be up for grabs 10 minutes into last qtr. Odds have drifted closer, maybe after Rohan's article in the Age yesterday. Saints now at 2.20 vs Crows 1.70. Adelaide were pretty good in their Ro...

Re: St Kilda going home !!

Terrific move by all concerned. Would love to see the Linen House infrastructure replicated at the Junction Oval. Lap pool, gym, weights room, treatment rooms, offices, fenced carpark...Cost? $10M? $12M? Harry Trott Oval refurb - $2M? New oval construction - $5M ? Be very advantageous to get in the ...

Re: Not disgraced

Step back a bit...weigh it all up. As President Bartlet said in West Wing Season 3 Ep 15 - "See the whole board". I am very proud of the Saints tonight. It was a terrific effort by a Saints team deep into re-building against a fully-developed side laced with stars on their home patch, who ...

Let's shoot the Lenny rumour down - from afl.com.au this morning - "MIDFIELD generals Lenny Hayes and Leigh Montagna will return to St Kilda's team for Saturday's clash against Greater Western Sydney - but they need to get through a "significant training session" first. The veteran Sa...

Re: Coaching/structures/game plan

I'm guessing it was a set play that gave Armitage his goal - tap-out to the boundary while everyone drifts the other way, leaving Armitage 5 metres clear with the footy and able to clunk a drawing left-foot goal from the boundary. Whoever was supposed to be picking up Armitage would have been thinki...

makes you think the future starts at the first bounce tomorrow night.
Geez...I'm gonna be there.
