My view of footy experts has plummeted even further after last night's Brownlow count.
Number of Age experts tipping Chris Judd First, Second or Third - 0 out of 12.
Number of Herald Sun experts tipping Judd 1st, 2nd or 3rd - 1 out of 16, that was Matt Windley, tipping Judd 2nd.

Hmm, you've all got me worried. Maybe I'll have to get there earlier. Like 4am. One tip this year - if I'm gonna be queuing for more than 3 hours, I'll bring a seat - just one of those small camp stools. Dump it by the side of the queue at 7:55, it will probably still be there when you get back out ...

The Pies should be paying Ross Lyon a copyright fee for stealing the Saints Footy concept. Relentless pressure across the ground, force turnovers, quick movement into forward line to create havoc among defenders. It's a team-oriented style, helped by their constant bench rotations. They'll be coming...

Last time we met...

I post these simply for discussion. It would seem that Geelong ran into the same Collingwood on Friday that the Saints encountered back in July. These are from The Age report on the last Saints-Pies match, July 18, by Rohan Connolly. No link, these are from the paper copy. "Pies tear Saints to ...

Last year - joined the queue at 6am, in the drizzle, already about 1000 people there, most of the way up the hill.
This year - 5am, I think. Get seat ticket by 8:15. Then head home for a snooze. I may have to miss INXS.

Agree with Teflon and sraf - two goals in the last 40 minutes or play is not enough. A commentator said "the game is opening up for the Cats". It sure did - the Saints lost their defensiive sharpness and a metre of pace, while the Cats seized the initiative. IMHO the rain should have evene...

Made the smart decision to take control of the ruck contests in the last five minutes.
Wound down the clock perfectly. As good as one of his goals.

Tipping shock - Tim Lane has tipped the Saints by 6 pts - not sure if this is a kiss of death,
or that he has seen the light.

A solid gold first quarter - 6.0 to zip, setting the tone for the night. The slow starts against the Blues and the Bombers this year meant we were chasing the scoreboard for the rest of those matches. Also - Riewoldt kicking straight, Koschitzke marking everything, Gwilt setting up plays from the ba...

Another Saints article in The Weekly Review...

You read the Riewoldt story.
There's another one on cheer squads and banners, mainly on the Saints.

I like this thread! This has been a team keeping its powder dry, waiting for September, ready to cut a path to a prelim final,
and who knows from there. Will be interesting to see who's rested over the next two weeks, so the list is cherry-ripe by September 1.

Pretty poor when you consider the players were obviously following instructions to the letter. I'm proud of
them for doing it, against some pretty vocal cr*p coming over the fence.
Seriously, why risk a hammy in junk time, when there are bigger things in our future ?

It's not a bad theory.
If the zone is easy to switch on, then this week is a definite "hit the button",
as we're in danger of slipping out of the Four. Pressure the Port backs, stifle the midfield, especially Rodan and Cassisi, cut supply to Ebert and Westhoff = 4 points! Like it!
