7 goal loss with 2 less scoring shots and 2 out on the full from 30m out  If this is your positive hold that thought. 4 goals 7 behinds in the first quarter with super effort is the reason for the reasonablt level scoring shot tally. Outside of that, flogged in clearances again, kicking all a...

Gehrig kicks one on the siren but has been well beaten all day Saints lose by 7 goals with 2 less scoring shots :( I think Gehrig was sacrificed today to stop Scarlett impacting too much on the game. At least in the first half. The full forward position is not one to sacrifice in my opinion. King d...

I have always beleived the 3 talls option as a good one but its obvious to me as the game runs on, we deliver the ball more poorly, the oppo takes the ball to the ground and we fail to keep up forward pressure to stop rebounding. This was obvious in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

All over. 42 points. About 35 points more than it should have been if kicking was better. Well I thought the midfield did all right depite losing the clearances but the disposal by kicking is just not a midfield problem. One word of advice, offer Goddard another $100,000 and make him the kicking coa...

Why do we do stupid little handballs to unaware players and let Geeelong players get a hand on the ball?

It seems we have given away 5 goals today just from this lazy play.

Sam Fisher, I love the way he plays but why run and collect the ball, run straight down the ground and kick it directly to 2 oppo players in teh goal square? This sort of decision results in easy rebound and oppo goals. Clarke is looking good again. DalSanto is trying but is being beaten by Ling com...

Damn silly turnovers lead to many easy Geelong goals.

Sometimes youv'e got to wonder about the amounty of team talk going on as the decision making is very poor at times.

Injuries are making running difficult.

Kicking skills are just not up to it. They keep turning the ball over making Geelong look good.

As I have said in other posts we need Kosi forward he is lumbering and slow down back and coughs it up too much. We dont need to add to their goal list.

Ablett is a protected species. Holds the ball without getting pinged then gets a free resulting in a goal to Geelong. Sheesh I hate soft umpires.

Should have been play on.

The commentators say it was completely fair. They were blaming Clarkes lack of awareness. Just like it was Kosis fault when he was destroyed by Giansarcusa. Gamble has been reported for striking Dal Santo. Then the rules have changed. When Hocking charged Harvey years ago, the rules were changed to...

Xavier Clarke Inury

Clarke has been stretchered off the ground. Not only was this missed for too long Geelong had an opportunity to score a goal bedcause the game wasn't stopped. Lets face it, the original justification years back for 3 umpires was to stop this sort of thing. Harry Clarke (Geelong) now needs to face 7 ...

Umpires must be on the cats. Is it just me but Saints players can be taken out of play and flattened without umpires noticing but they manage to apply kicks to Geelong for a multitude of very minor touches. Why can a slipped tackle result in a legging free (to Cats) yet when the reverse happens its...

Like someone already said, it's down to the umpires to stop that sort of thing.
So it's only cheating if you get caught??
That's Bull as the umpires are so imcompetent that they allow it.

"one on one" footy in a bygone era meant lots of evenly spread contests all over the ground. Nowadays if you are "accountable for your man" rather than a zone, you both run the length of the field 15 times a quarter We certainly don't appear to be playing a 'one on one' game. So...

The most important thing I'd like to see is a performance which we can be proud about come the end of the game. I too also don't expect us to win, but I'd like to see us be competitive and put in a consistent 4 quarter effort. The Dockers (sheeesh) win in games with high emotional force. It annoys ...

I still think that most of what we saw on Friday night was "between the ears"... I doubt that will be seen again. If ever they were gonna get a rocket, its watching a replay of that $hit. We will be very competitive on the weekend. Between the ears is something I reckon was the key factor...

geelong were 2-3 last year sydney were 0-3 in their year of glory... there is really no need to panic yet YEP quite true, no need for panic. Just remember that panic results from lack of control of events. People are making up their own history that creates the panic in their minds. Hiostory at Sai...

DOGGIES VERSUS CATS

In 2008; Cats have beaten Port, Essendon and Melbourne Doggies have beaten Adelaide, Melbourne and Saints. Hmm not too much difference in the quality of their opposition. Depsite some opinion about Adelaide, Adelaide just beat Port. Since 2004 without consulting records; I believe the Bullies were f...

Yep, Some good ideas above. One thing, despite several (including myself) believing that the mid field is slow, we have to learn how to deal with this situation. We had a good recent record against the Doggies due to our ability to win the clearances and limit the Doggies effectiveness by just being...

I was interested in how the team balance worked in the NAB cup -we had Armo, CJ and couple of other young runners really moving the ball well, but now the forward line is ponderous. Gehrig has no place in the team now. I think at least Armo and CJ need to get a berth in the seniors, as they do atta...

Re: Our star-studded midfield lacks intensity!

We all (inlcuding Ross) know by now that last nights loss was a direct result of being absolutely smashed in the midfield. The midfield is where the game is won and lost. No point is slaggin ur forwards, when they dont get an opportunity to even get near the ball. Unfortunately, our apparent stars ...
