With the glut of medium sized forwards, I have wondered if we're not looking at a future of foward rotations like we currently see in the midfield. Is this the way of the future?

Grew up in Bentleigh and my grandmother lived in Moorabbin within walking distance of the ground. When I was 7 in 67 she gave me a jumper (#4) and a membership. I'd stay with her on Friday nights and we'd walk up to the ground. All I remember of my first game is sitting in the Moorabbin stand and be...

Shame in my book. Of course he had his limitations; was always nervous when he was one on one and was never subtle enough in a show of strength. But he's a serviceable full back and, while the cap means we can't have a team of superstars, will be hard to replace. His left boot which cops a bit of fl...

We can quibble about his rankings or his expertise but for me the relevant thing for Saints fans is that few of us would argue that, for various reasons, we had as many players in the top echelon this year a we have had previously. At the end of 2010 there was little argument from us that Goddard an...

Gary Ayres in the news?

A plea for information here. Did anyone hear Ayres mentioned on SEN this evening? The Lioness tells me that she heard SEN discussing the coaching position and that the strong word was Ayres as frontrunner; almost a done deal. While she's not generally given to hallucinations, I'd appreciate hearing ...

Seems to me that Leigh Matthews was about right when he said (while talking of the Lyon defection) that the coach sets the 'team first' tone. Clearly Malthouse failed that test over the past few months. His footy show appearance, newspaper articles, interviews (even arguably his tears post PF) were ...

For what it's worth, here's an excerpt from the Keenan article. Perhaps there is some truth in it.... The fallout is continuing at St Kilda following the Lyon departure – but it's not all bad. Think back to the early part of the year when Jack Steven and Zac Dawson landed in trouble for breaking a...

th umps did all they could to get Freo back into the game in the 2nd quarter. Plucked frees from nowhere time and time again. My observation is that you'll see this phenomenon in many games each year. I don't think it's a deliberate thing or aimed at any particular club - but when one team works it...

The point for me is that while all coaches unashamedly and rightly borrow and mimic effective strategies from other teams, Malthouse seems to be the only one who is unable to concede that he's done so.

Paul Roos: Malthouse Stole Saints Press

Despite Mick's protestations that his gameplan had been modelled on the Roman Legion and had been years in development, Paul Roos observes in todays HeraldSun that Collingwood's gameplan took a radical change of direction about the time Luke Ball joined the club. Interesting article which outlines e...

I'm with DBD on this one. Far too little emphasis on the physical appearance of our players in recent years. Dangerous thing to do I know .... but if you award each remaining game to the team currently ranked highest on the ladder, we're left with a 3 way tie for 8th spot with Saints, Melbourne and Essendon (currently all within 2 percentage points of each other) and 6 points shy of teams above and below. ...

Selwood out vs Saints?

The press is unusually quiet.

But there must be a question mark about Selwood's availability after an alleged off the ball incident with a now injured Guerra.

I'll be watching tomorrow's MRP with interest.
