Visionary!

Last night's win clearly gives us the inside running for the run to the post.

Take nothing for granted though; we were set up beautifully like this in 2005 to fall unexpectedly in the prelim....

No stone unturned this time.

Agree that it would be good to see the Pies drop out in straight sets but I'll actually be hoping they win tonight. I'd love to see the Pies and Cats absolutely belt each other up in the other preliminary. I'd rather knock them out of the big one personally.

My feeling at the game was that the umpiring went through a subtle shift when we got 5 goals up. I think this often happens when one side clears out. There's an innocent but discernable change to begin paying the 50/50 calls to the team who are behind. Part of the great Aussie egalitarian tradition.

Reminds me a lot of the finals win against Crows in Adelaide. That set us up with a home preliminary against the Swans. Fantasic win. Sobering parallel; nothing guaranteed.

Gwilt free (youtube link)

I was at the game and missed it.

Got home too late to see it on "Match Day".

Has anyone got a youtube link?

I missed out last year and camped in a swag overnight. If the cards had fallen a little differently on the day I may well regard the experience with more affection than I do. Hoping for a seat in the ballot this time but the swag is ready to go if required.

High, negligent, medium impact.

60 carryovers tipped him past 300 points.

Early guilty plea brings it back to 2 games.

I think they've got it about right.

I haven't seen any footage of the Chapman incident(s) but I am intrigued by the MRP report dealing with a single strike when all of the media reports I've heard or read have referred to "repeated upper body punches". My reading of the significance of the Baker finding was that the MRP were...

Thought the same thing last night, Dons couldn't get a clear possession without getting closed down.

Don't underestimate the role Max has played with them this year.

A great shame. I'm a Raph fan. He does make frustrating mistakes but things do happen when he gets the ball. My hope was that his return would be a key to regaining some of the running drive from halfback that opponents have been able to close down in the past few weeks. Ah well, we'll have to find ...

I thought the most interesting thing to come out of the article was identifying 3 things other clubs were trying to do to break us down: Stop Fisher and Gilbert running free off halfback Move the ball quickly Isolate our defenders one on one In amongst the 'form slump', 'heavy legs' 'readjusting to ...

I don't pretend to be right on top of all things Sandringham but my understanding of the significance of Walsh's game on Saturday is that it was perhaps the firs gam where he played excusively as a forward. He's played mainly as a back to this point; easier to learn the game back there. The move for...

I must admit I didn't understand what the coaches saw in Eddy until I watched a game from high on the wing at the G last year. From there I was amazed at what an important role he played in the structures we used. When we took possession, Eddy would bolt wide to the boundary line, dragging a defende...

I aree that there are more important things than the draw to worry about but there's no doubt that we've had the toughest draw of any team to this point. When you add up he ladder positions of opponents to round 7 you get: ST KILDA 39 ESSENDON 46 RICHMOND 49 BRISBANE LIONS 50 ADELAIDE 53 NORTH MELBO...

Like so many other umpiring calls, this is about te letter of the law vs the prevailing interpretation. No doubt in my mind that the decision was a correct one if you go by the rule book. And I suspect it's a correct decision even by the way the decision has been sold by the umpiring department in t...

When you add the current ladder positions of our 6 opponents so far you get Swans(1)+North(11)+Magpies(2)+Fre(4)+Port(7)+Dogs(8)=33. This gives us the toughest draw of any team so far. The next 6 toughest draws by this measure have been those of the bottom 6 teams. The full list: Swans 65 Pies 55 St...
