look, without being too negative, Freo were crap.....no ruckman, a one man forward line (Pavlova) and no idea how to slow a game down. The moment X.Clarke ran down the guts at full speed to bang it inside 50 really showed up how different a game plan against us Freo had compared to most other sides...

Isnt that the whole point? Bomber Thompson licked his wounds, recognised he was not able to manage the many hats Cook and others at the club said he was managing - it was affetcing his coaching. So whats he do? Agrees with the Board for the footballmanager position, the club sought some outside lea...

I agreed that we "played" differently...but not that the gameplan was different. We still flooded back.. We still went sideways when we did not have a forward option.... We still also played tempo football at times... We still "coralled" the opposion when they sought to run out ...

This "FIX"ture is a bit of a bug-bear of mine and has been for some time. Since 1997 (the first season with the current 16 teams) we have made the following interstate trips: * Perth 20 times (the most of any club other than the two WA teams) * Adelaide 11 times * Sydney 10 times * Brisban...

We didnt approach a new coach to "tweak" Thomas style - we got a nedw coacjh cause the game plan wasnt standing up when it mattered AND the ENTIRE footballing Dept needed outside help...which Thomas wouldnt have a bar of. That's not what our president said when interviewed on Fox Footy. H...

I don't think we can carry Matthew Clarke in this game. He is not suited to play on Cox/Seaby. I feel dirty as I type this but I think Rix is a better match-up for Cox. And is not because they both have three-letter surnames ending in "X". This is a game that Rix could get his teeth into. ...

You expect a new coach with his own style of play to be mastered from Rd 1? If you make the assumption that Ross Lyon was brought in as coach to take us to the next level where Thomas could not, then our plan needed a tweak not an overhaul. The general feeling on this forum was that we lacked a pla...

Glad you got your jollys cause I couldnt see the whole game today LLS - nice to have my own stalker. The big difference was that we took risks when we had the ball today. Something we haven't been doing at all this season. We were accountable when we didn't have the ball. We did not stop attacking either. That is a change from previous weeks even when we've won (despite what any player says)...The ...

Definately two holding-the-ball rules out there today.

Every time we were tackled after having a prior opportunity and hand-balled the ball away we were pinged. The same incident with dockers player and it was play-on.

Very ordinary...

Today showed what we can do when given a little licence to take some risks. 19 goals! Two key players out so injuries can't be used as an excuse. This is the way we should have been playing all season. This is what I expected. Take some risks when we have the ball and be accountable when we don't ha...

i think when u start attacking someone about their grammer it shows that you're starting to grasp at straws...... Thanks for your input... I just think that if you're going to refer to people that disagree with your point of view as "stupid" then you need to be above reproach. That...

Ben Johnson...Gone!

High hit on a Melbourne player (Daniel Bell) with their head over the ball. One of the worst I've seen. Bell was stretchered from the ground. He must and will go for weeks! He was also reported and pleaded guilty last week so he will have residual points. Not that we play Collingwood between now and...

I agree Leo and its true most people are generally stupid and dont look to the reasons why we may not be paying the way we did in 04....Im not going into these in detaisl ( its been done to death) suffice to say: We have a new coach, The game has changed markedly since Lions won 3 in a row, Weve ha...

hrmm funny that 2006 form slump fell into finals ?!?!? Not at all similar. We were running at full strength but the players were not playing for the coach. After round 14 (we had just beaten the Bulldogs) we were 11-3 and the doggies were 10-4. We then went L-W-L-L-L-L-W-L to limp into 6th spot wit...

The St Kilda decision to sack Thomas came totally out of the blue. What football club sacks a coach that has taken the team to three consecutive finals, has the support of the players and has been very innovative in his approach?
