Re: Team defence was tight...
Defence was always going to be the last piece of the puzzle, especially having lost JC for the year. Problem has been our ability to push some really good sides this year (nobody could have expected that), where we should have probably been flogged by the Hawks, GWS and Port (and been worst off than...

Re: Team defence was tight...
They've rijigged the forward line - pushed Rooey up the field to get Paddy in and took a risk on first yearers in Lonie and Sinclair. We've rijgged our midfield with the likes of Ross, Newnes, Dunstan, Acres, Gresham and Billings. And yet we haven't done much with our backline at all. Fisher, Demps...

Re: 1996, 2003, 2008, 2016?
I know for some the sky is falling after Saturday night. It's hard not to be fatalistic when you support the Saints. I would say in defense of the team that we struck a red hot side, playing at its favourite venue and sky high in confidence. They had the ball 126 times more than we did. 126! Normal...

Re: Carlisle ban?
As I put on here when Essendon FC self reported, they are in very serious trouble - and despite all the nonsense, denial froth and bubble from that "great" Corporate Leader, the very unpleasant and dictatorial Little and the equally unpleasant individual Hird, this is the outcome - as it ...

Re: Carlisle ban?
WADA was always going to whack them. They don't like being lied to and being stuffed around. They also need to be seen to have "teeth" when it comes to these issues. The decision to recruit him was a calculated risk, but IMHO, one worth taking. He will still have 6-7 years left in him and...

Re: Let's call it what it is......cheating.
Just blatant cheating and they don't try and hide it. Arm chops ignored while non marks getting paid as marks resulting in goals the other way. It was 15-6 GWS way during the 3rd. We get to 16 down and Lonie and Bruce both get clearly infringed 20 out no free. It's just cheating and we keep copping...

Re: Two rules apparently???
Why would they not pay that free? No excuse not to. They either didn't see it or it wasn't a free or it was an error. None of which make them cheats. You are very unlucky with the footy sides you follow. So they cheated as it was plain view. Yeah, I screamed such at the telly and with a more calmer...

It's worth way more than 4 points.
If we are to only win one more game this year, please be it this one.
Against the odds, without Roo (likely), against Carlton, in NZ.

Re: Etihad roof to remain open on sunny days
Last time I checked, Australian Rules Football was an outdoor game. The roof should be open all of the time. Night, day, sunshine, rain, everything.... Yes, players might look into the sun. But guess what, in about 30 minutes time, the siren goes and you get to stand at the other end. No different ...

Another thing I noticed was how Hawthorn hand passed behind to blind positions, they nearly always hit targets, something that only comes with practice. We'll get there

Re: Skill level
By far the biggest difference between the two teams was skill level (and picking the right target, which I include under skill level). How is this fixed? Is it fixable? Was it just a bad night? Was it caused by Hawthorn's pressure/zone? Nerves? Or are our players innately less skilled to the point ...

Re: Adelaide Game
Yes, the revamped Adelaide Oval is fantastic. Glenelg is a great place on the beach, plenty of restaurants, bars, etc, and about a 25-30 min tram ride into town. If you want to be closer, anything along North Terrace is only a couple of minutes walk from the oval. Hope the Saints do the right thing...

Re: The race for Rice
I think Dean had several reco's??? He was a gun footballer as his son will be. I Wasn't surprised that we moved him on as we couldn't afford to keep such an injured player at the time. I Was surprised that Carlscum picked him though and it's a real credit to him that he ended up having the career he...

Re: Out goes the tackle (junior footy)
One of my sons (I have two and two stepsons of which they all play footy) is quite a tough bugger, he did his shoulder a couple of seasons back in U/18's, ironically from a tackle, but when he was starting in footy he was just the average kid and not very rough. I don't know what the stats are for ...

There isn't tackling in AUSKICK. Good move. No way in hell is my son playing footy unless there is no tackling. Soccer all the way for my boy (who will never be 6 foot in any case!) Why soccer apart from his height. I agree there shouldn't be tackling in Auskick but I fail to see why it has to be s...

Re: Out goes the tackle (junior footy)
The best part of AUSKICK is that it is a skill based approach, whereby all kids get to have regular attempts at all skills provided. where we fail after this is we then get them into a team environment, with generally one or two coaches (at best) and try and get them to now focus on team things whi...
