Re: New AFL CEO.. What does it mean for us ?
Don't know about Saints fan. Said in the paper he had a soft spot for the Saints as he's mates with Andrew Thompson. Been reported several times he's a Saints fan: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/richmonds-brendon-gale-may-be-the-man-to-replace-afl-boss-andrew-demetriou-20140304-345d6.html Ho...

Re: Kosi on Open Mike
I remember those four weeks in 2005 when Riewoldt went down. 17 goals, 41 marks, 11 Brownlow votes (I think?). It was like we had another Riewoldt, but funnily enough from the game Roo returned in against the Dees at the MCG (where the whole streak began) he didn't quite have the same output. So typ...

Re: Roberton
I think for the moment he's the kind of player that should be given a few weeks to string a number of good games together before he comes back in (ignoring injuries and suspensions). Just to really solidify his confidence and prove to the coaches he's in a really good frame of mind. I have the feeli...

Re: Well done Jarryn - 100 games
Well done to him. I think the first time we would have seen would have been the 2008 first round of the NAB Cup against Richmond (when they added their all-yellow jumper to a still-growing line of pre-season strip monstrosities). Even then I wasn't sure exactly what he'd been picked up for - not ove...

Re: Shane Savage
I want to re-visit this thread in a couple of years. Reckon he showed a fair bit this week and still getting to know new game plan and teammates. This will be really interesting- both short term in if he's selected for this Saturday and in the mid-to-long term where he is in around 3-5 years (altho...

Re: Vent your spleen thread
Farren Ray had the chance to put us in front with only seconds to go and he absolutely stuffed it. Joey tried his guts out and I know he got the medal...but you wonder what he was thinking when he made a crucial error and gave them back the lead. It wasn't his job to manhandle Brown or contest agai...

Re: Round 6: Guess this weeks ins and outs
I wasn't necessarily saying he'd been gifted a spot because of NZ heritage. I was saying more that the use of him as a face of the club this week was probably a pointer to him being included (for whatever reasons they may be).

My impression was that the way the club is trotting him out in the media this week they're trying to build up his (already decided) return.Con Gorozidis wrote:I know they don't pick the side - Going on the Saints.com.au article Savage is a certainty.

Re: Wright has been placed on LTI
Interesting one. Lewis Pierce is only ~3 weeks from returning, which means Eli has the same amount left as a "senior" player if the club chooses to upgrade someone else. It looks like Mav would be the obvious choice from the remaining rookies? Or they could consciously decide Eli has more ...

Re: St Kilda going home !!
Caro pointed out that the process is being largely driven by Gillon McLachlan, who "was joined" by Demetriou for government talks. thezelk mentioned Peter Summers' involvement too, which is certainly backed up by the club taking the initiative for the promo training run there a few weeks a...

I can't find it either. Some of the best Mo's from days past - Sarau - All the Elliot Bros. - Gary Colling - Cowboy - Paul Callery Let's not forget Gavin Mitchell. I would have put that mo in the same category as Gary Sidebottoms effort. Appropriately reflected the 1998-2000 era he played in.

Re: Centrebet no longer a major sponsor
Guys relax! Centrebet have withdrawn their sponsorship for all clubs/associations that they have sponsored. This is because they've been taken over and now cease to exist. It looks like we've planned well anyway, as we've just added a new sponsor to the fray. Who is the new sponsor? I hadn't heard ...

Re: Captain J. Geary 2014?
I don't know if he has enough presence to be a captain. I'm certainly not doubting his leadership qualities, but he tends to play an understated role in the side; when things get tough he's not going to be the guy to take the game by the scruff of the neck in the way a Roo or Selwood does. My tip f...

Re: Milne - Where's he at?
What's tricky with Milne is that IMO over the years he has brought this unclassifiable quality to the club... Call it teamsmenship, great clubman, spirit whatever. When debutants kick goals, he is always the first to congratulate them, when a saints player gets hit, he is always the one to remonstr...
