Re: POSITIVES AND NEGATIVES

Back to Stanley. Perhaps we could split the difference between foward and back and have him play on the wing for the remainder of the season? He doesn't have the tank to play wing. At the minute though his confidence is so low and he lacks the basic requirement of just being able to fiercely compet...

Re: Dear oh dear Nick....

I would say that he has actually had way fewer complete shanks this year (i.e. ones that miss the goals entirely.)

I would argue that he shouldn't be played at the minute. He looks really proppy at times, and I think thats had an effect on his set shot kicking as well (obviously).

For now, I'm just concerned with Hickey getting the ball and tapping the ball. That mark that he took for the set shot was a beauty.

Re: Stanley

If McEvoy was being played as a key defender this thread would be baying for him to be traded as well. If you look at what Stanley is good at, there is little to suggest that he is a key defender. Just as Gwilt cannot play as a key defender, neither is Stanley suited to the role. Just because his b...

Re: Armo

He was hard at the ball, but some of his ball use was absolutely woeful. And I can't believe he managed to screw up that snap early in the 4th.

Also, his gesturing to McEvoy (when he kicked it to no one in the pocket) is really immature. He's meant to be in the leadership group?

Re: Watters performance

Too many smalls and too many talls. Milne, Milera and TDL shouldn't be in the same team neither should Stanley, Hickey and McEvoy. I agree, but he has already said that they want to get games into Hickey. So it seems he'll get played regardless of performance. Same with Lee if his body holds up. Se...

He had a really strong game, as did Dunnell and Webster.

Really hope Ross builds his tank over the pre-season. Like our other younguns' he needs to be able to gut-run and run out games much more powerfully.

Re: Watters "Clear headed"

I don't really see the point in us having a crack for the number 1 pick this year. We have Tom Lee and Spencer White who we picked up last year as up and coming key forwards. Sure we don't know that they will make it but I don't see the point in narrowing our options at this stage by gunning for Bo...

Re: 16th

We need to find 2 serious young guns at year end to give us hope. One won't cut it. I'd have 1 of gilbo Gwilt and dempster on offer to the highest bid. Yeah starting to think we maybe should go for 2 if this is a strong draft. I would think Gilbo may have the most currency because of his versatilit...

Re: At least our effort last week looks better now

Yeah I think Montagna and Riewoldt have probably been the only two players this year who have consistently delivered to expectations. Jack Steven arguably too, though he has had some off games. The experienced players are the ones that have really been the biggest impact on our lack of effort/compet...

We have seven players between 50-150 games..and exactly none of them are genuine guns..therein lies as much our problem as a pile of kids.. Exactly. That's the reason we haven't won more game or played better in losses - the experienced players not playing to their potential. Of course the amount o...

Re: David King is a dumb ass

I think if he wants to stay we should keep him. We should reward loyal St.Kilda people by allowing them to stay. The worth is in building a strong culture of keeping good St.Kilda people at st.kilda.....not so much in his trade value. Completely agree 100% When you just trade away or allow your bes...

If GWS hold onto the #1 pick then I doubt they'll use it on Boyd given their current crop of tall forwards.

Re: Ross Lyon...Before The Game

You could make a good case that Lyon is coach of the year to this point. No pav or Sandilands for virtually the whole year, on top of a bunch of injuries to key players and still they sit 5th on the ladder. In their next five games they've got: saints, eagles, Richmond, Adelaide and Carlton. I'd pro...

I think our aim with our first pick should be to get a gun midfielder (ideally one who can step into the side and contribute straight away).

Re: Webster subbed off

I thought he'd been pretty good. My theory is that they were going to sub Saad ... as he richly deserved ... and then he kicked that real team lifter on three quarter time. Did the decision cost us do you think? No. Webster wasn't playing in the middle. And at the crux of it, we lost the game in th...

He tagged Gaff very effectively. He also showed the ability to win one-on-one contests and uses the ball well - his assist to Maister in the first term was golden.

Definitely earned a spot for next game.

Re: Webster's Progress

Nathan Wright is still head and shoulders above any of our other emerging youngsters. Webster has been really promising so far, but need to see him play more rather than just as the sub. As encouraging as Seb Ross' form has been this year, I think our most pressing need for the next draft is a top m...

Wright has only had 2 weeks out. Curren is a rookie.
