Montagna is a beautiful kick ... have look at his delivery to Riewoldt and Gehrig against Fremantle. On the other hand, watch Dal Santo panic and turn it over against the Eagles ... very uncharacteristic, but he gave it up a couple of times. Dal Santo had 30 less disposals than Montagna. He also ha...

Stats show that Gilbert had a better year than Gibbs. Stats show that Gilbert had a better year than just about everyone who polled votes. Hurn finished fifth, even though Gilbert averaged more disposals, marks and tackles. It amazes me that someone who's so tall, so fast and so talented can escape...

Dal does a lot more with his 21.5 than joey does with his 23.9. He's one of the most efficient and effective mids in the league. He also gets more contested ball than Joey. He has the second fewest average disposals of the shortlisted mids though, so he might miss in the end. I'll be impressed with ...

Like I said in another thread, his kicking technique and his tackling are a concern. And yes, I'm aware he had four tackles on the weekend, but if they kept track of who had the most missed tackles milne would be right up there. His kicking efficiency is below the 70% mark which is awful, especially...

Imagine if we had played an Elim there, guys like Gilbo had only played at the ground 3 times, and I reckon it makes a big difference. For some players, maybe. But Gilbo is a dead set gun no matter where he plays. On the other hand, I remember both Clarke's looking completely lost on occasions at t...

folks forget how good hackland was in his first year at the club I'm not one of them. I was one of the few people on here who was saying I would rather have Ackland than most of the guys we were rucking this year. I copped some abuse for saying I'd prefer him to Rix, but I wonder now if more preopl...

AFL clubs don't know how to trade. I'd agree with that, but since you have a New Orleans Saints logo as your av I'd also point out that neither do NFL teams. Trading players is a dead art over there, and it's never taken off here. I think the reason it's never taken off here has more to do with the...

I dont see him as that much better than hackland. I don't see him as much taller than Ackland. Charman is everything that Ackland could have been. He plays with 100% intensity all the time. He wins hitouts, despite his size, and directs his taps better than anyone we have at this club. He takes con...

Pendlebury is, by far, the best player out of the nominees. I suspect, however, that the Joel Selwood hype machine will get him over the line. I suspect that Sam Gilbert has no chance. Most I've heard haven't even mentioned him as a possibility. I suspect most votes to go to Selwood, Pendlebury, Smi...

Re: Rules on Rookies
So does that mean we could still keep Jones on the rookie list if we wanted to? I thought I'd read somewhere that we can't delist an interstate rookie after one year. It's all so very confusing.Carl Mynott wrote:* A rookie player must be 18 (and under 23) before December 31 in the year he is drafted.

I'm pretty sure (my opinion only) that Teflon is responding to that thread with the news, also delivered by Caro and Hutchy that Bedwell is part of that challenge. That's a bit much. Caro hardly reported that Bedwell was part of the challenge. Hutchy sprung it on her, and she appeared to be as surp...

Yes that may be so....but I look forward to Bedlams plan going forward.....his last one on radio was "saints losing helps me..." I guess as long as theres an "alternative" we are all happy... I'll be happy when something gets done. Who does it bothers me a lot less. Bedw...

Re: Steve Bedwell Part of New Ticket.....
Genius Stevie part of the "super replacement" ticket that Huchy himself described as "lacking credibility"....  He also mentioned RB has some sort of a plan for moving forward. Shame that the board doesn't feel any need to announce said plan. We're only lagging behind...

If we can fit him into the cap, we have to go after him. The whole point of recruiting is to go after gun players, and Paul Hasleby is a gun. The odds of getting a better service from a player out of the draft are very slim. The only concern is that he's struggled with fitness over the last couple o...

IMO - pick BEST available with our first rounder out of these 6 categories. Do NOT recruit Wingmen, Medium Defenders, CHF, CHB, or Wing men. Look for hardness and mental toughness in the kids. Just pick the best kid with the most talent and a good attitude regardless of position. It would be stupid...

Gwilty would get a few bites. At the very least we would get a draft pick upgrade. He's a 188cm tank with a beautiful kick and is good in the air. He was extremely stiff to be dropped earlier in the year. He is just unlucky to be on the same list as S.Fisher, Hudghton, Goddard, L.Fisher, Blake and ...

We're probably only going to draft three players wit picks 9, 27 and 43. If there's somebody else we like, or we trade an earlier pick for a player, we could draft somebody at 59. We might elevate Attard and put him on the LTI (just so we don't have to next year). We might elevate Jones and Geary. A...

DELIST Milne I doubt it'll happen - he's one of the four who played every game. His kicking technique bothers the hell out of me. How he used to be so accurate in front of goals I don't know. The way he plays now, he's never going to get anywhere close to 60 goals again. He's also not good with the...

The reason most trades don't work out is that most trades are fringe players for draft picks. Few teams ever trade stars or potential stars unless they demand a trade. Player for player trades don't happen very often. If we're going to pick anyone up, chances are it'll be someone like Birss or someo...

He is not an in and under player, so even as a midfielder would need to be an outside player, second or third in line for the HB to deliver that beautiful raking kick into the sweet spot inside 50. He doesn't get a lot of contested footy, but do you think that's the way he naturally plays or is it ...
