Re: Would a merger or relocation be such a bad thing

I'm thinking a merger with Sydney next week, the new team to be known as the St Kilda Saints.

Re: Three Saints fined

Butler, Dow, and Battle all fined. Butler fined for tripping...Since when did tripping by hand become reportable and carry as much weight as an intentional low impact body punch? My 1963 copy of the Laws of Football lists reportable offences and contains section 28 (a) (xi) Intentionally trips or k...

That killed our momentum I'm not sure that the 50 against Windhager was because he went over the mark. He came from be...

Both need to get bigger and stronger all over - arms, legs and chest. Sydney players seem to have the magic pill these days.

One game does not make a career. But he looks like a footballer, unlike Webster who never did and isn't. Is he capable and willing to learn the art of defence? The next 4 years will tell.

Some players do it deliberately to injure, like pushing players into a pack. Moore wasn't going for the mark but for the punch.

I’m watching Swans v Cats Swans are frightening…their skill and execution is sublime The commentators just said “it’s like they can choose mid quarter the gears they want to use/go to and pull it off…sometimes fast …then slow ….rarely turning it over the whole time… Cats doing a lot right but the c...

Re: Ross Lyon you do my head in

... Both Hill and Nasiah were 'gesturing' to get him to run straight at them... Alas, he is not Nick Riewoldt. Nick could do three leads and still have enough energy for a fourth if needed which usually meant his opponent was way behind. Max is incapable of that, and even his first lead will never ...

Ben Long was really good. One of their best.
He was on Webster. Long knocked the ball clear to Touk Miller for his goal.

A pity for him (he's quite distraught) and the team. Since his return, he has ben playing his best footy for the club in my view - far fewer mistakes and a few contested marks. But I guess he will be out for a while.

Darcy Wilson is the new Darrel Baldock... There are a couple of similarities. First, he has great skill on both sides - not only in kicking but in handball. That was something back in the 50s and 60s displayed by triple Brownlow Medallists. After watching the replay of yesterday's game, I gave him ...

Re: Enjoy the win

Away wins are particularly satisfying for two reasons. First, it gives the Saints fans who live there something to experience and cheer about. Second, it provides the cheer squad, who made the long trek to fly the flag, with a memorable trip away in another city. I guess some of them went by bus, a ...

Jack Steele was on Reid in the first quarter and kept him quiet. Steele was released in the second quarter and Dow went to Reid. Worked alright most of the time until WC had a dominant period at the centre bounce and Reid, being untagged and alone on the defensive side of the ball up, capitalised. W...
