Re: Round 2 - Saints be Pies - Match Day thread
This is likely to be a blowout. Our skills are too poor hence the number of turnovers. We are one ruckman short. Jack Sinclair into the centre is our only hope.

Re: Three crucial blown calls by maggot #4
The Bonner decision was No 9. I thought he actually fumbled the ball in trying to pick it up. The Stocker decision was in the back. Stocker had his hands on the ball before Dangerfield even entered the contest. The holding the ball decision was a result of the umpire who paid the free being behind t...

Re: Rating our players vrs Cats
NWM should be on a wing. He is too easily moved off the ball in a backline contest. Bonner looks OK - can take a mark and is a very good kick. His passes were low and hard. But he too is light for a backman. Our back six seem skinny compared to the top sides. Howard only makes that worse, and he fum...

Why kick when you can have six inaccurate handballs.

Our last win at KP was in 1999 with Tim Watson as coach to take us to 3rd on the ladder after Round 10.

I think 16th will be a little on the high side by the end of the year. But we will know more in 5 hours.

Re: StKilda again the ones that cop it.
I think 4 weeks would have been reasonable. That's how many weeks he would have got under a previous "points" system. But concussion is now viewed more seriously so 7 weeks is now the base for this action. The perversion remains Maynard's outcome - an obvious case of bias. He did everythin...

Two full back GF captains!
The only Premiership team full back captain that I can recall is David Dench. This year will see another one as both teams have fullback captains. Verdun Howell was VC in 1966 but, by then, he was on the half back flank.

He played well. His pace in foot races to get to contests was especially noteworthy. But he wasn't the player who cost GWS the game. That was Lachie Ash (no.7). Last week, I can remember thinking that you can't have someone like him on the backline - he gives the ball away with poor disposal or poor...

Re: Would Ross Lyon make the difference at Melbourne?
If only we had bought Steven May and not Dougal Howard. Melbourne seemed to be robbed of one goal and possibly two. I couldn't see any bent fingers in the one that was declared touched and Max Gawn hit to ball onto the post but could have been behind the line when he did it. It shows how teams must ...

... Well a precedent has now been set that you can run directly at player front on who is carrying the ball and launch yourself at him or her as he or she disposes the ball without actually effecting the smother and cannon into their head without fear of retribution. ... That would seem to be the c...

... Jimmy is our Stevie Baker without the Jeff Fenech. Steven Baker was an exceptionally skilled player. He could kick either foot, handball both hands, take a contested mark and most importantly, pick up the ball cleanly when it was in front of him. For his size, he was as good as anyone and he wa...

I hope his eye is OK after someone stuck a thumb in it. He had to play with his eye closed for most of the second half. He has had his best year in my opinion - certainly his most consistent. Despite that, I think he can get fitter and stronger. Or should I say, he needs to get fitter and stronger. ...

On a positive, how good has Sharman been. Surely it’s time to give him a good run next season. Sharman probably our best but we went out with a whimper ... He wasn't in the top ten of the ground and is a dud once the ball hits the ground. He is as slow as wet week. RoMa was BOG by a mile.

Re: Who will win and why Gws vs SAINTS
Max King needs to be off loaded whilst he still has AFL currency. Dropped marks are one thing, but you can't have a player who just stands there and watches his opponent run down the ground. If he's not fit - get him off. Been held in contests. Should have had 4 frees. One free, but that doesn't st...
